Putting it all together...spoilers

Started by savvysparrow126 pages

Ok, so let's put it all together. Jack and Will talk. Will says every step he takes to be with his father, brings him farther away from Elizabeth. Jack says that Will doesn't have to choose--he will stab the heart because he wants to sail the oceans forever and never die again.

But, Jack has made this deal with Beckett, and not wanting to look bad, he pushes Will overboad with the compass, leaving him to be a scapegoat for his dealings while Jack sails to Shipwreck cove.

Elizabeth arrives at the meeting, a newly minted Captain. She and Jack are still at odds, Will is picked up by Beckett.

(By the way, I think I figured out the significance of the Will Turner toy with floating raft action. It's actually going to be really funny. He lashes the barrels together to make raft. Not exactly sea turtles, but still pretty awesome.)

So, Elizabeth is up for pirate king, Jack votes for her. The pirates decide to fight. They meet with Beckett to discuss the terms of the battle. Beckett holds Will captive. Everyone thinks that Will has betrayed them to Beckett, when in fact, it's Jack.

Beckett reveals Jack's treachery. Somehow, Elizabeth trades Jack to Beckett, figuring out that he and Will have some sort of master plan.

Yep Mina is been a while.. 🙂

I have browsed through the book, I haven't read it all. I liked that part a lot.
A man is capable of doing anything when he truly loves some one. I wouldn't be surprise if Jack was willing to do that, but I know he must be feeling a lot of remorse. But that shows how he truly loves her. He is capable of doing anything for her love to love him back.

What's Elizabeth's reaction to all of this? I can't imagine she'd be pleased.

This movie is brilliant. Wow, all this with a master plan. There's a line that Jack makes after Elizabeth agrees to hand Jack to Beckett.

What line?

Yes I have to agree. So far the plot up to this point is impressing me more now that I think I have an idea of which direction it's heading. I just hope they take the direction.

Ah, I'm going to look for that line.

So going back with the scene where Jack and Liz exchange words on the ship, If rumors is true that that scene takes place after the battle, then it's going towards the ending then.

And Jack is still confident that there is still something between them, and that she does indeed feel the same as he does.

I'm not so sure about that. I think it's more complex, but I don't necessarily think it will be a bad thing. When he says the "you keep telling yourself that line", there's a smile on his face, but not in his eyes. It's like he's smiling through the pain.

I'm going to try to piece this together because I have a theory.

I'm going to wait for you, savvy. 🙂

Ha, keep going, don't wait for me. I'll post my theory a little later. I'm still trying to piece the character motivations together. For some reason, Jack's motivations are a little harder to understand.

Ok Mina, maybe you can help me with this.

When Jack trades the compass to Beckett, what are his intentions exactly? I know one intention was to find out the location of the heart. But is he trying to trick Beckett into believing that he's jealous of Will?

OK, Jack was trying to hide his feelings too hard from the people and, especially, to Elizabeth.

It's like the cartoon Hey, Arnold! There is this girl named Helga who is in love eith the character Arnold. And she tries to hide her feelings by betraying hi, torturing him among other mean things.

LOL sorry. Very stupid comparison--I bet half of you don't know what the cartoon is.

Anyways, Jack has been exposed.

lol Jack is like Helga, isn't he..

I'm trying to think now. Didn't Jack gave the compass to Beckett so he could find Shipwreck cove?

Um, wait...I'm not thinking straight.

Is that his master plan though? Beckett baits Jack into revealing two things:

1) That he's jealous of Will

2) That Elizabeth is important to him.

But it's not like Jack to make those kinds of mistakes. He tricked Beckett into revealing the location of the heart; my thought is that he may also be manipulating Beckett with Will and Elizabeth so that eventually, he'll end up captured on the Flying Dutchman.

I don't know what I'm asking, but I guess now my theory will have two versions.

The more shippy version

And the no frills version.

I have to admit that I'm mega confused on Jack's plan. And what is the master plan Elizabeth and Will do?

Well, what if it was a mistake of Jack?

Beckett seems to know about Jack's methods than anyone. I think by showing these mistakes of Jack, it will show on how he wasn't thinking straight or on how his plan got kind of back fired just because he was thinking of himself.

I'm just speculating.

Not quite sure yet, I'm still trying to piece it together. Here are some more tidbits though that may or may not help. Here is the Norrington moment for our Norribethers:

Elizabeth shook her head, her eyes sad. "it is too late to earn forgiveness" she said.
"I do not ask it" Norrington said. He knew there was no way to absolve himself of his mistakes, even though he had only been trying to be a good soldier. He only wished he could make Elizabeth understand-through it all, his love for her never wavered, despite her rather unfortunate inclination toward the pirate life....
"Go!" he cried to her. "I will follow"
"You're lying" Elizabeth said. She knew him well enough to know that. Norrington looked into her eyes. "Our destinies have been entwined, Elizabeth", he said, "But never joined." Impulsively, he took her in his arms and kissed her. Only for a moment-and then, he pushed her back towards the rope.
"Go! Now!" he shouted…

And what happens after Will is thrown overboard by Jack:

Will had been found & dragged aboard the Endeavor. He now stood soaking wet & manacled, unsure of what would happen next. Beckett's ship was moored alongside the Dutchman. Davy Jones had been summoned to the Endeavor, much to his extreme displeasure.
"I believe you know each other" Beckett says to Jones
Jones smirked. "Come to risk you luck against me again, have you?"
"no" Will said, "to join you. Well, him." nodding towards Beckett.
"Tell him what you told me" Beckett says
Will took a deep breath. "Barbosa has summoned the Bretheren Court for a purpose. To free someone named Calypso."
Jones stiffened, a new look twisting his features-fear. Beckett nodded, as if he expected that.
"Calypso" Beckett repeats significantly.
"No", Jones said, "They cant. The Heathen Gods care for nothing and no one but themselves, and she is the worst of them. The Bretheren were to keep her imprisoned forever; that was the agreement". Will gave him a scrutinizing look, some of the pieces of the puzzle coming together. "YOU told the first court how to bind her" he realized, "and that's why you cut out your heart"...
Jones slams his claw down on the table. "Do NOT venture there". He turns to Beckett "We must stop them"-urgently-"she will destroy us all". Beckett nods slowly, looking thoughtfull. "It is more imperative than ever we find the Bretheren Court" he says "which presents a problem". He turns to Will. "With you here, IF it was indeed you who left us the trail..."
"It was"-Will insisted
"...then how will we find them now?" Beckett finished.
"I want your assurances" Will said, trying not to let his anxiety show in his voice. He needed to sound calm and in control of the situation. "Elizabeth will not be harmed".
"Ah" Beckett said "Elizabeth. Of course." He paused before answering. "The last I knew of Miss Swann, she was Captain of the Empress". "Captive", Will corrected him automatically.
"No, Captain" Beckett repeated. Will thought about that for a moment, puzzled. "Nonetheless," Will said, shaking off his confusion, "she will not be harmed." He turned to Jones..."and my father goes free".
"you ask much" Jones said, his tentacles writhing.
"I offer much" Will pointed out. He knew that this was his only chance to bargain with them.
"Where is Shipwreck Cove?" Beckett hissed.
"I dont know' Will said
Jones darted forward, pressing the tip of his claw into Will's chest, and snarling into his face as the tentacles of his beard snaked around Will's neck. "Then you have nothing we want!" he growled viciously.
But Jones was wrong.
Will looked at Beckett and held up...Jack's compass.
"What is it you want most?" he asked with a smile

I'm just speculating.

That's why I'm saying there may be two versions, one of which Jack is selfishly thinking of his own pain. In that version, he'd find out the location of the heart and intentionally betray Will to Beckett with the intention of taking Elizabeth for himself.

In the other version, in which Jack is in complete control of himself the entire time: He pretends to reveal a weakness, knowing that Beckett is keen to exploit it in order to find himself a way onto the Dutchman.

Wow...

Before the versions, lets go back:

After Beckett arrives with Will and they all find out on what was Jack's plan, Elizabeth agrees to hand in Jack to Beckett.

Supposedly, Will and Elizabeth have a plan--OH OH REMIND ME TO FIND THE LINE JACK SAYS TO LIZZIE--

So Jack and Beckett negotiate.

Ok, and Jack ends up going with Beckett? Hmmmm, it sounds like their minds are all working towards the same goal, but with different methods of achieving it. Jack wants to find the heart, he's willing to take a hit for a team so that Will doesn't have to stab the heart.

Find the line Mina!

She looked over at Will, who saw the dawning realization in her eyes. He nodded very slightly. He knew she'd figured out their plan. Meanwhile, Jack was arguing with Jones.
"That debt was pd", he insisted. He gave a mocking half-bow to Elizabeth. "With some help". "You escaped", Jones pointed out. Jack waved his hand airily. "A technicality", he said. It was time for Lizzy to speak up, and she knew just what to say. "There's no better end for Jack Sparrow than bilge rat aboard the flying dutchman", she announced. "I propose an exchg. Will leaves with us...and you can have Jack." "Done", said Will quickly.
"Not done!" Jack objected. "Done", agreed Beckett
"Elizabeth, love, you're condemning me", Jack said, "again".
