Do you think the Piece of Eights are literally coins? Or are they items like in the 100 page script? Maybe the ball and chains is a piece of eight?
Aww, lay off the writers. it is not clear everything they're trying to accomplish...on May 25th, it'll make sense. I also love Jack guessing that she killed him, it's going to be funny...even though Feng dying is not funny. Chow Yun Fat is hot!
I think Jack's a lot like Norrington. They both love Elizabeth, but she doesn't love them as much as she loves Will yet both men will do anything to make her happy even if it sacrifices them or their happiness. My mom was even complaining earlier about the kiss, how they make it seem as though James had a shot with her and then they kill him off since he stands in the way of her being with Will...a bump in the road as you call it with Jack...
I love Beckett in that parlay scene although I wonder whether it's exactly like that because I loved when Liz confronted him in the 100 pager about her father.
I think Elizabeth does seem to be smartening up slowly as to her actions and those of others. The problem is that the novelization is based off script and not how the actor is portraying those lines which can change the meaning considerably. In the novelization, she understands during the parlay scene that stealing her away is not Jack's intention, but whether that is shown in the movie remains to be seen.
Beckett could have just followed the Pearl to Shipwreck Cove, but Jack knew the compass would point only to himself so I think he wanted Beckett to come specifically to him so he could be traded and end up on the Flying Dutchman.
Jack is always a good man...it just isn't easy to see all the time, he's like Han Solo that way.
But I really think there's more to that ending than Liz waiting on an island. She must have a purpose other than waitng or raising her child...after all, she's the Pirate King.
Ooh...
(Distracted by mention of slashy subtext, like Will definitely not being an Eunuch.)
And now I'm confused, but it'll pass...
I know it seems weird and contrary to popular opinion, but I don't want them to tell us everything about Jack. I like the ambiguity in his origins so we can ponder and come up with weird theories and they're all correct because there's no canon on it.
I suppose his backstory could influence certain characters but would Jack appreciate his past used in that way? It wouldn't be his revelation so it would have to come from another character and that would come off...tacky.
Aww...William stabbing the heart...that's sad.
