Just came back from seeing this movie and i liked it, best Star Trek movie in years and i'm a fan of Star Wars

9/10 from me.

yea. big SW fan here. I loath ST for my own reasons but i'm gonna watch this one cause it looks really interesting.

it'll be the 1st ST movie i've ever seen in theares.

I like the young kirk and spock idea. and the initial building of the enterprise. And besides JJ's doing it, so.

😱 You have never seen a movie in the theater before? 😕

Guys, for a movie that only came out today, spoilers are required, regardless of what they are.

Thanks, Raoul 😉 That's what I was trying to say - rather use one too many spoiler tags than one too few, especially if the movie's so brand spankin' new.

I've seen it yesterday night, it has finally been premiered here, and I must say even when they changed a lot in ST universe, they are coherent in the changes, and I must admit JJAbrahams did it great!

The story is good, the action is good, the characters are great! and also the ships. Lots of nods to fans, and great music.

Saw it last night; thought it was great. Probably my favorite movie so far this year. And the way they set it up allows for however many sequels they want.

I would definitely agree with every single sentence here. 🙂 And it's definitely my favorite movie so far this year, and here I was a skeptic before I got to watch it (wasn't sure I would be able to put Sylar aside and actually 'see' Spock, wasn't sure I would like the re-boot of one of my childhood memories, etc. etc.) After having seen it, I draw my hat before JJ Abrams. He did a great job of making it happen on screen.

Not a Trekkie, actually kind of prejudiced towards Star Trek my whole life though I was exposed just never really got into it if you will.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, might have been the best one I have seen in 2009 and I have seen a great many of them that have come out and 09 has disappointed me. This felt like the first real event movie I saw and yes there are a few flaws but what is good about the movie makes up for the flaws tenfold to the point where they are forgiven. It was still vastly entertaining, the chemistry between the cast was believable and amazing and I think I even shocked myself and developed a weird little crush on Spock. Sheesh this movie did that much of a number on me. I walked out feeling exhilarated at the end.

I'm on team the little boy says Tiberius, lol.

I want a sequel.

might as well re-post this here. i shall need to improve my research skills. 😂 how have i been a member here so long and NOT concluded that star trek has its own subforum?

anyway...

saw the film today. i absolutely loved it! the character interactions were witty and the chemistry among them was undeniable. the slew of actors casted for the parts seemed perfect (though i really have no basis of judgment other than what i just saw). i enjoyed the brief childhood insights of a couple of the characters.

the movie moved at just the right pace, revealing and unfolding events, seamlessly layering and transitioning them on top of the other. i can't recall a dull moment. the dialogue was great. the whole thing was written extremely well.

i highly recommend this film. its one of those silver screen attempts that anyone can joy, both star trek and non star trek fans alike. i'm anything but a star trek fan. i only hope the other films are as well executed as this one.

side note: i find zachary quinto's take on spock strangely alluring. its not really the pointy ears or the good looks behind the aesthetics and makeup. it's spock's abnormally high IQ. i do love my nerds. so hot.

hehe, oh.

I mean it'll be the first S.T. movie i'll have ever seen in theatres..

(thought that day would never come, me eagerly wanting to see a ST movie in theatres, ha)

Ok now THAT was WICKED AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG OMG OMG what movie!!!!!!!! 15/10 Absolutely NO complaints! Going again ASAP!

I liked all the little nods to wrath of khan (spoooooooooock!!!) and all of eric bana's deliveries.

Saw it. It was good. 7/10.

Not as good as I thought it would be, but still better than most. Kirk's character seemed too Ryan Reynolds smartassery...not that I didn't like it, it just felt a little.....forced? I can't put my finger on it.

And Spock's character, as played by Zachery Quinto, had waaaaay too much emotion. Leonard Nimoy is still the much much better version of Spock.

Still, it was enjoyable.

I don't want this timeline, though. I don't like the things that happened in this "universe."

Spoiler:
And did anyone else pick up "continuing mission" instead of "5 year mission" at the end of the film there?

Dadudemon, this is a young Spock, still not fully controlled of his emotions. That and his

Spoiler:
mother dying in this alternate reality
is pushing his control to it's limits.

That was a nod to STNG,

Spoiler:
that is the line Picard speaks.

I thought this movie was pretty good, cheesy and exciting, two things I look for in Star Trek, even though it was 2.5 hours long, it seemed a bit pushed to me, one thing I didn't like. The use of making this an

Spoiler:
alternate reality
was brilliant,
Spoiler:
severing ties with canon
.

Looking forward to the next one.

Yea I think it was clear that they were trying to show Spock's struggle between his humanity and his Vulcanity if that's a word, lol. Clearly an adult Spock which Nimoy played might have perfected the ability to be emotionless and completely logical but young Spock is showcased right off the bat as having issues with dealing with his duality so I think it was acceptable.

did Ahora (sp?) and Spock have that same relationship in the original Star Trek?

no

Never seen anything Trek related beside what dad watches from time to time, but this looked pretty decent, so a few friends and I saw it opening day.

I liked it. biscuits

Holy balls. I have never really given any solid attention to Star Trek other than the random episode (I used to watch Voyager but I don't remember anything but Janeway and Seven of Nine), but this movie made me consider giving more thought to the matter of exploring one of the science fiction worlds I hadn't pushed into yet.

A completely kick ass movie.

I like it as much as TWOK and TVH.

I could easily sit through ten more of those.

One logically has to concur with the 9/10 ratings in here.
A week of epic win from JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelhof.

Great plot, fast pacing, great characterisations, amazing special effects..... Micheal Bay and others should take note that this is how reboots are done. You CAN make a movie that appeals to long time fans and brings in new blood.

Feeling the space awesomes.

I'll, most likely, go see this next weekend. I make it a point to never go to a new movie on opening weekend so I can avoid the crowds, babies, cell phones, and talkers.

All I hear about this movie is good things.

*shrugs* Old Spock had issues with his emotions.

and no spoilers please, i still haven't seen it...

Just got outta "Star Trek" and I'll have to say, I liked it.

I mean it didn't blow me away but I found myself genuinly getting into the movie and there wasn't a single moment in the film that left me bored despite it's length. (at just over 2hrs.)

I loved Jimmy K's cockiness although I thought he was a bit too wild. And that kid did Spock pretty good too. I was shocked to see L. Nemoy in it. (man is he super old lookin'😉

I liked the sound effects, like the little beeps inside the enterprises' hull that were reminicient of old-school "ST".

Great score during the movie as well.

But more importantly the story was good, eye candy was great, as I expected, and I can't wait for the next "ST" movie to come out.

(wow. i'm waiting to see the next "ST" film. Me. A (former) "ST" hater. It's the end of the world as we know it.)

OK Guys, Gals..

As I die Hard Trekker, as someone who has watched Star Trek since I was 4 years old.. I must say that I love this film.. Everyone was well casted and the story was great.. Zach Quinto as young Spock was right on as was Simon Pegg, Karl Urban and Anton Yelchin.. Seeing Leonard Nimoy in his iconic role was great... 9.9/10

I cannot wait until the next adventure of the U.S.S. Enterprise
