Where are the finalized rules?

Thanks. I honestly hated that one at first, and now it's gottena bunch of compliments.

😕

Anyway:

Tech shutdown, battleifeld manip, and adaptability...

Goob mentioned possibly having to outright ban Zero because of his PIS powers. I'm not necessarily an advocate of that, but wouldn't be opposed to discussing a "shutdown" of specific banned things. Unless there's some gaping weakness or if his powers really aren't as bad as they seem, it seems awfully suspect to me.

Digi, scoob brought in scans of it being able to shut down Cable's TO Virus and saying it could kill DP and negate his healing factor. 😬

Um ... no I didn't .. that was some Weapon X guy or something.

Oops. 😮

I just have a problem with him claiming that the character is below Ironman but that his tech is superior.

yeah. he's been on and posted in a couple other threads . . . 😬

anyone know yet how the 2nd rd is gonna go? any ideas on possible match-ups? 😕 we're quickly coming down to the end of this rd.

Well, given how every victor in round 1 so far has won by unanimous decision, and the ability to easily compromise the poll results, it's hard to determine who seeds 1-6 are. Seeds 7 & 8 will be determined by judge vote. I think round 2 battles should be in order by seeding (akin to the NBA Playoffs) So it would be:

1st Seed Vs. 8th Seed (Loser 2)
2nd Seed Vs. 7th Seed (Loser 1)
3rd Seed Vs. 6th Seed
4th Seed Vs. 5th Seed

Then we could re-seed for the final round:

1st Seed vs 4th Seed
2nd Seed Vs 3rd Seed

Well probably have to have a judge vote on the seeds 1-6 as well. Each judge could just rank the winners 1-6 and send it to Goob using a point system based on rank:

1st = 5 pts
2nd = 4 pts
3rd = 3 pts
4th = 2 pts
5th = 1 pt
6th = 0 pts

Democracy at work.

something like that sounds fair to me. 🙂

It is Long Pig afterall...

No On-the-fly adaptation (IE., Doomsday's ability to come back from the dead immune to whatever killed him)

I think the Zero issue was already covered in the above rule. Chracters like Doomsday, Fury, Nimrod, Nemesis Kid, Darwin, etc. were banned in the rules. I believe Zero's ability to adapt to and neutralize all threats/weapons falls under the "No On-the-fly adaptation" rule. I think the way it was presented originally simply clouded the issue, whether it was unintentional or by design.

does anyone IN the tournament actually have an opinion on the matter? 😕

Proabably.

like a retarded chess player on meth. You can give all the chess tactics and crystal meth in the world to a seven year old, he still isn't beating a world class chess player in a million years.

LP got sonned. 😆

Alright people it seems that we have a few things to discuss.

First of all I'd like to apologize for not speaking up to expidite the clarification process more often, but the truth is I'm often clueless as to what to do about the issues at hand. I spent a LONG time coming up with the rules of this thing before I ever announced it to try to minimize the amount of "loopholey" strategies that could be taken and thought I'd succeeded, but I'll be damned if you guys didn't notice the hundred or so loopholes that I'd overlooked 😆 . You guys have put forth a lot of strategies and amalgams that I'd never considered when I put the rules together, so it's really difficult for me to answers to the issues because they're as new to me as they are to you. So from here on out, I’ll probably be putting in my two cents BEFORE the final decision has been made, that way everybody can help me work through this stuff. With that in mind….

In regards to Joey demolishing the battlefield, I’m inclined to allow it(at least partially). See initially, I ended to allow battlefield manipulation that way people with the ability could create constructs and such out of the environment during prep. My main concern with it is that if he demolishes the ENTIRE battlefield, he’ll be demolishing the area immediately surround lp’s character thus bringing lp into view(which would constitute spying). In fact if Joey actually scanned lp’s guy during prep to look for weaknesses(which is what it seemed like from what I read), that’s NOT allowed. But back on topic, what I was thinking was that it might be ok to allow battlefield manipulation for the character in question on their side of the battlefield ONLY. That way people could still do pretty much whatever they want, but they wouldn’t be allowed anywhere near their opponent(the way I see it if you have your character rush into a trap, you deserve what you get). How does that sound to you guys?

About lp’s abilities….I really don’t know. Given Zero’s ability to use a PIS power to take out pretty much anyone, it now seems that he may actually exceed the cap(which means that lp’s character may have to be banned). Now that’s something I’d rather not do, so I’m looking for opinions on this. When lp drafted him, everyone’s primary concern was his ability to shut down tech, which I ultimately decided to allow so long as it wasn’t used for one hit ko’s on opponents with android/cyborg bodies. However I was unaware of his ability to create a special blast for every individual character, which is what potentially puts him over the cap in my mind when it’s added to all of Zero’s other abilities. Now if he’s NOT over the cap, then the only real problem I see with his ability to create target specific blast is if it becomes a one hit ko situation.

Well taken straight from LP's prep.

He actually is the most advanced tech in Marvel due to the fact he's built from Apoc's celestial tech. He's down the ability to absorb (to make himself stronger) or control any energy thrown at him.
He's also shown the ability to scan a being's biology to create energy blasts that are specifically made to kill that being. Basically, whatever you are, he can automatically create a blast that will affect you more than any other type of blast.

I don't see how an Ironman level character could possibly have those aspects to it's characters 😬

Hmm...

Well Nimrod, Fury etc. were outright banned, and Zero falls into the same category, though he's a bit more obscure than the others (a fact that was likely banked on when he was drafted).

At this stage I think neutering should suffice. Just kill his over the cap abilities and disregard those portions of his arguments.

And if there's one thing I've learned about these KMC tournaments Goob it's that there's always another loophole.

Still, we shouldn't ban a character based on Lp's propaganda and intimidation tactics... if there are scans of this, however, I'd love to see them.

I don't think Zero should be banned at this point either Smurph, I just think his over the cap abilities should be turned off (like Emma Frost's posession ability is turned off) and that part of his argument should be disregarded by whoever is judging his battle.
