You believe that an Indian king got "enlightened" after sitting cross-legged under a tree. He gave up a lavish lifestyle...and for what? Now that was stupid...

If he was not a Christian, would he have been elected; NO. Therefore, everyone cares what he believes.

I do not believe that anyone "got" enlightenment.

You should read in context more. Just picking lines out of a conversation makes you look foolish.

Try asking a question next time.

Now I would be impressed if they elected an Atheist to office, now that would truly show that we have over come prejudice. 😄

I know my world religions, and I know what I'm talking about.

How are you a Buddhist, and not believe that he was enlightened under the bodhi tree?

People said the same about a Black president.

A Woman, Asian, Hispanic, Atheist president are all inevitable.

People do not become enlightened, they realize their enlightenment. We are all enlightened beings, but we are asleep to that enlightenment.

That is why my statement was sarcastic. 🙄

Until there is a large enough Atheist population or Christan views change I can not see them ever voting an Atheist into the White House.

Now I stopped you right there, because there's more "No Religion" people in the US than there are blacks.

Yeah, given an infinite timescale.

I sincerely believe it is currently possible for both a woman and a Latino president to be elected.

I believe it is essentially impossible for a gay, atheist, or Muslim to be elected president until at least 2050.

Discrimination still exists for a helluva lot of people.

..and there is a hell of a lot more minorities then atheist and religious people. It wasn't just blacks that voted him in office, it has been shown that the religious beliefs of the candidate overshadows many other issues such as race and even political views.

So it should! You choose your religion, you do not chose your ethnicity.

Then how did a black Muslim get elected by those horribly discriminatory Christians?

Sounds September Eleveny to me.

Hussein is an Arab name, not a Muslim one...
