OMFG.

I actually paged through the thread and read the bullshit that caused this. That was the biggest truckload of horseshit I have ever read. Strangelove was acting like a whiny, pissy, sniveling *****. "Waaah, don't call me by my name...waaaah, I'm going to report you for it."

Boo-****ing-hoo. Strangelove should be banned for being a whiny **** and for bypassing the filter.

I wasn't whining....I was being very angry

So we just ignore the fact that he was wrongfully banned? Unless there's something I'm missing in the situation, it wasn't right to permanently ban him for calling someone by his name. While he was being a complete A-hole, he wasn't actually breaking any rules, unless he was in which case correct me, but until then I maintain is was wrong to ban him for something like that.
There were circumstances beyond just what happened last night.

Agreed, except for one thing: VA Tech is hard to get into. It is unlikely to be a last resort school.

Kiplenger's Personal Finance ranked the school #18 in the top public universities of the U.S.

VA Tech Freshman

(I'll post the international student stuff once the servers stop stalling)

Applying to this school, for English, does not make much sense for an international student.

Maybe it's easy to get into for English.

That's often the case with specialised universities, though I wouldn't know if it is true here; nor do I care enough to find out.

This scares me seriously because it is not logical at all. This is what I know so far about the shooter they know about:

- Korean

- alien immigrant; allowed to stay in the country as long as he stayed in the school for a certain amount of hours

- English major! English major at VA TECH! Who goes to VA Tech for English??!?!?!?!? Why would a Korean immigrant go all on the opposite coast?

- repeat, immigrant. anyone see how this could start getting ugly?

Erm, quite a lot of this is wrong.

From what I've read, the gunman had lived in the US since 1992 and moved here with his parents and had a green card, and he lived in the suburbs of DC. He was legally a permanent resident and had been for years (so no, I don't think he was allowed to stay in the country only if he attended school for so many hours, and also wouldn't be considered an international student), and he probably attended VT because it was near where he lived.

I don't know how it's done in the U.S, but universities here have separate entry requirements for each subject.

That is a general requirement sort of thing. International students only requirements are posted on that link. The only ones who have different criteria than the general students are engineers.

What I said, I got from the morning news. There was no mention of him being a permenant resident AT ALL.

Well, I got what I posted from a CNN article (which I linked) that was dated about 20 minutes ago.

Sigh, **** the Today Show. Thanks for posting the link. Changes a few things.

I'm interested in reading this play, has anyone got a link?

I will move to another country😛

It may be a little too inappropriate. 😬

There are actually 2 Plays. I'll read the other one later.

You couldn't PM the link to me, could you? I'm very interested in psychopathology and would like some more insight into this case.

As tragic as this was, I feel it's been a bit overpublicized

It happened yesterday and just today the hard facts are slowly coming out. What'd you expect, 15 minutes of coverage?

It's not even on the front page on Yahoo anymore

I just remember hearing about the Beslan school incident for like three days, mainly because the incident lasted for three days, and this is guaranteed to go on for at least a week.

They said the guy wrote a letter that ran for a good amount of pages and had rhetoric and stuff such as, "You made me do this."

Hmmmm

Well I just checked your age so I guess it'd be okay if I PM'ed them to you.
