darthgoober's Amalgam Tournament Second Round Draft Thread

Started by King Kandy17 pages

Under the Zxaxz logic, the following types of characters are banned:

Telepaths
Matter Manipulators
She Hulk and other characters who can bodyswitch.

Since when can She-Hulk switch bodies?

I thought she knew the ovoid mind transfer.

Is it nuetering to say There's no offensive matter manipulation?
No.

That's a method of using powers, not cutting off limitations.

Saying that Superman can only punch with x amount of force is neutering.

Saying that a telepath can not mentally control an opponent is just dissallowing a certain method of using powers.

That's exactly what I'm saying. Obeying the rules on power use isn't nuetering, only the ones about power caps.

And under those rules Zxaxz should be allowed.

Well, as long as offensive matter manip isn't used, and he isn't >>> Ironman, I really see no problem with it.

Has he had more than 10 appearances though?

That's because there is no problem.

So, would Molecule Man be ok now then?

chair 😛 You deserved that, and you know it.

Ok KK check it out. Moves like offensive transmutation, mind shut downs, etc. are banned not because they're overpowered necessarily(though they often are), they're banned because any match in which they're used would immediately devolve into something resembling...

"Right at the start of the match I turn you into a pig."

"No because that won't work, my guy resisted transmutation against so and so and it'll be the same thing here."

"But my guys better at transmutation, so it'll work now."

"Nuh uh, it won't work!"

"Yes it will!"

It's just typically better to avoid that type of situation by banning the move all together.

For a character to be eligible to be drafted, they have to be less powerful than someone like Iron Man BEFORE the move restrictions are set into place, not after. Nightshade was banned because she was to powerful BEFORE the construct rule was taken into account, and the same thing applies here. From the sound of it, Zzaxz is quite a bit more powerful than Iron Man, and because of that I'm afraid I can't allow him.

I'm sorry to clear him and then alter the decision after he's been drafted, but as knowledgable as I am about comics in general, there are A LOT of characters that I know practically nothing about(your guy is one of them), and the bio's you sent me where to vague to accurately judge his overall power. In instances like that, I'll go ahead and announce him as a pick, and then count on the other entrants to let me know if I goofed up.

No she isn't. ermmhappy

She isn't even the most powerful character selected so far. Hell, she's not even the most powerful cyborg since Spartan would dominate her one on one and nobody has a problem with him (rightfully so).

If you read Outsiders and not just the two issues where she went apeshit (and still did nothing over caps) you'd see she's nothing to worry about as far as caps go. Normal apes were able to break her shields. Said apes were getting rocked by Nightwing. Her stamina is a weak point as she needs to recharge after exerting a certain amount of energy.

When her programming was taken over by Braniac 8, she fought Starfire pretty well but Starfire admitted to holding back as to not cause too much collateral damage. By the time she starting going all out, she was tired from fighting the real Braniac (stated on panel).

As far as Jade goes, she had months of prep which she won't have here. If you notice in the first few issues of Outsiders, Indigo is shown asking Jade about how her power works because she couldn't figure it out on her own.

And Grace and Thunder? They're nothing special. ermm

Ben 10,000 had full control of the watch IIRC. He would wreck IM.

Only because he could take over Iron man's armor. Otherwise, 10000 would lose probably.

Can I draft Storm? 😖hifty:.

So, it's iron man level?

Pretty much. With a little room to go over, but not much. and no caps on the power meshing, as long as the characters aren't over IM by too much.

Grace was able to hurt Sabbac and was going toe to toe with him until LOL HELLFIRE. That's pretty impressive.
