How did you like Part 3?

Started by surfchikpir8fan14 pages

Ohhh, I've only seen once. How badly do I want to see it again, 🙁.

Actually I went on a bit of a pirate adventure though today. It was my besty's birthday party and we her mum hired a boat and the lot of us all went out. I was chart man and lowered the anchor and nearly steered us into a yacht ... but i just made a comic strip of my adventure back on the beach, lol.

Ahh, I wanna see AWE again so badly, hmph! Is there a script on the net yet?

okay, so i can finally post on this thread with first had knowledge. It's hard to believe but It's been a week now since I saw AWE for the first and only time.....

When I entered the theatre...it was very nostalgic...cause I was sitting there thinking about everything we had all discussed and hashed over the past 10 months...I was excited, although i knew everything that was going to happen...as the previews began...i was taken back in time...
I reflected on all the clues, theories and things we had been over and and over...and I was anxious for the movie to begin.....there were certain points of the film I wanted to clap and cheer our characters on as if i knew them personally...and then when I left the theatre...I felt sad and empty....like in January after Christmas has come and gone...or after you return from a well anticipated vacation and now it's over.....and nothing turned out as you had hoped.....

I enjoyed the movie at certain points, but thought that overall, the movie was one big mess.....

For starters...there just wasn't enough Jack Sparrow in this movie.....
There was no real understanding as to what went on between Jack and Liz in the second installment...

Liz and Will's relationship....I just don't get it
I hated the wedding....
I hated the love scene at the end..i wanted to crawl under my seat and hide...
I was disappointed with Jack's ending..and after all that had transpired..his compass finally worked and pointed to a bottle of rum..WTF???????
I hated Norrington's part in this one....
This was the worst of the three in my opinion.....
I have no real desire to rush out and see it again.......I'll wait for DVD and hope that the deleted scenes are awesome..so i can have some peace of mind......

I just feel like my heart has been ripped from my body...and locked away in a chest....

awww tigers 🙁

when i first saw it i wasnt keen...but ive seen it 4 times now (and yes i am very serious lol) and i actually have come to love it 🙂

I think you have to get used to the film before you can sit there and enjoy it for all that it is worth...

but im also praying on the deleted scenes 🙂
OH, and the bloopers! 😄

I definitely think you need to see it again, lovethemtigers. A lot of the stuff you didn't like will grow on you, and while I never expect you to love what happened in the movie, I think you'll eventaully accept it.

Like I did with Norrington's death. I was was sooooo angry with what happened to him, and you know I was pitching fits about the fact that he was going to die even before I saw the film. Now, however, I've come to understand and enjoy the (small) role James had in the movie, even though I have a lingering bit of bitterness about it.

Just...go see it again, and try to relax during the parts you hate. At least there are really good parts to the film you can enjoy. Focus on that. 😄

Surfchic: Your comic strip is cute! That looks like fun. 😄

Jack ended as he'd started - on the small boat, I don't like it 🙁 Black Pearl is his ship. First part is light, the second and the third are too serious. The producer probably wanted to add some depth to this movie and I think it was a bad decision. Killing Jack in DMC (result - not enough Jack in part 3, Liz becoming a murderer), Norrington and Liz's father in AWE was unnecessary. The love between Liz and Will... I hated it 😛 However I want to see AWE once again, because multiple jacks are worth it 😄

But look at it this way; if Jack gets to the fountain of youth, he'll have enternity to chase the Pearl and get her back. The Pearl is only a ship anyway; what he wants most is freedom, what he loves most is the sea. The Pearl was his way to get both, but he understands now that he doesn't NEED her to have what he wants. 😄

Although I'm sure he's gonna go chasing after her as soon as possible. 😄

Well said 😉 He has what he needs and he'll get his ship sooner or later 😉 . What bothers me is that I'm not sure if he wasn't in love with Liz 😉

joanjoan that is what i don't get..even t and t touch on it in the commentaries for DMC....Jack is vexed by Elizabeth....if they had just not shown me that Jack could be affected by Lizzy then I could probably digest everything that went down....but the way they handled Jack and lIz and the way the actors portrayed their parts in DMC made me think and countless others that there was somehting developing between jack and liz...cause, to be honest...like we've said many times....we just never saw anything develop between liz and will..but we saw it between jack and liz..the way they challenge each other...the way they are so much alike....the chemistry....it was all there....and it was there in the jr. novelization.....

I guess I just wanted Jack Sparrow to develop and have character growth and to realize that there was more to life than just life at sea, life on board the Pearl.....and the ever elusive Freedom...that he and liz both spoke about with each other in the previous two movies.....

I mean, sure he showed some growth..he was willing to sacrifce everything for Will and Liz in the end...give up his own chance at eternal immortality and life at Sea by helping Will stab the heart...

but I agree with the person that said this somewhere else....I wanted to see another scene between Will and Jack..one where he acknowledges everything Jack has done for him.....

And I still don't get how Will and LIz can be together..because earlier in the trilogy..it says that they cannot be together....if Will stabs the heart..."one step closer to my father is one step further away from Elizabeth".....and then when Bootstrap tells Liz he cant' have both...he can't save and be with him and have Liz too.....so, just confused...and I know , I know "one day" on land and 10 at sea.....well, whatever.....

When Will became the captain I was almost sure that he would tell Jack to take care of Liz 😄 I was so happy thinking that she would stay with Jack 😄 Then, not literally, she said goodbye to him 🙁 and this scene with Will... 🙁 and after the credits... Will was such an egoist, leaving her pregnant, alone, without her father. I would prefer she hadn't chosen anyone at all. Those 10 years must have been hard for her.

Overall I liked the movie, but there were a lot of things that didn't make sense, as I should call them "plot holes".

>> 1) What exactly does the curse include? Is the curse not being able to step

I think the movie implies that if you don't do the job of ferrying souls, you end up corrupted, in body and mind, like Jones. Jones decided to not do the job, so in theory Will has that same choice. But neither can step foot on land.

>> 2) If the the curse being broken for Will means that he is no longer bound

The movie does not state where the next Captain comes from, who picks the next Captain, or what happens to the crew. But I think the movie implies -- strongly -- that Calypso would be involved in the choice. Probably whoever it turned out to be would have 'a touch of destiny.'

>> 3) If Will is no longer cursed, and can live with Elizabeth forever now, no
>> longer bound to the Dutchman, does he get his heart back, or is it still
>> locked away in the dead man's chest?

The movie doesn't address this question at all.

>> 4) This is a question about Elizabeth, I know at the end Jack (sorry,
>> CAPTAIN Jack lol) drops her off on some big huge island that appears to

It looks to me like a different island. I don't think the location of shooting was the same. It sure looks different to me, sand and rocks vs. grass and hills.

>> Oh and sort of a random question not really important to the plot line,

>> If so, that's cool.

Keep in mind the boy from CotBP would be around 4 years older, by the time the AWE scene was shot.

>> Oh and a quick question about the DVD, if you know, will there be any
>> deleted scenes included in the bonus features on the AWE DVD?

I don't know any of the plans for deleted scenes.

For example this post made by Terry on wordplayer. It sounds to me like he is saying NOW that the curse will never be broken unless some one with the same fate as Will's stabs the heart.

And, can anyone clarify where on earth, in both DMC or AWE states that Calypso (Tia) has any involvement in the decision making?

It seems that whoever stabs the heart will be destined to be the next captain just like Will. What I got from both DMC and AWE was that Tia knew who the person that was destined to stab the heart was. I never got the impression that she was 'involved' in the decision making.

TnT are starting not to make sense..I really don't know if I like the movie anymore. They don't even know how to explain their own movie, they are contradicting themselves.

http://www.wordplayer.com/forums/movies/in...cgi?read=100874

of course t and t don't know how to explain their own movie...they dug themselves into a corner, couldn't find their way out and the result...a total mess what was AWE.....

I tell you, If I had not been on this forum and KTTC and if I had not read all the spoilers, that is exactly what I would have thought..and I would have been like...what ...what...what......and even knowing the spoilers I was still baffled by the ending....the implied love scene...was more than I could handle.....and the after the credits scene....what a joke...that boy was hired to play a young version of Jack Sparrow, so I still think something went astray in this...remember how they had to refilm the ending in Jan....I'm telling ya'll..i think there was another ending...and it wasn't what we saw...somebody over Gore and tandt didn't like what they saw and ordered them to refilm the ending....

but I do hope for that alternate ending on DVD....i would be satisfied with that.....i think....

I think I can answer #4 of your plot holes. Yes, Liz is dropped off on just some island where she and Will make little Will. But T&T say that at the end, she is at Shipwreck Cove because she is still the Pirate King. So it's cool they didn't make her give up her "career," although I thought the ending opened up more questions than gave answers. It begs a sequel that actually explains a few things. It makes me mad if T&T are truly changing their standpoints on important things like the curse, but should people really be asking? Use your own imagination and insight to make of it what you will. If you think the curse is broken, run with it, have fun with it. If you think the curse cannot be broken, run with that, too. T&T don't have to think for you.

Misty: TnT already explained that some of their responses prior to the release of the movie were incorrect because certain things were removed from the film, so it changes things. They are working around mistakes in editing, which yes, sounds a bit contradictory, but that's not entirely their fault, is it?

I don't know where you got in Terry's post that remotely indicates that the only way for the curse to be broken is for someone to stab the heart. He says that whether the heart remains in the chest after the curse is broken is not remotely mentioned in the films and he is correct.

Calypso in fact seems to have a strong hand in choosing the next captain. Remember, Tia can look inside a person, and she saw Will's nature. The word 'destiny' and her behavior toward him implied that she WANTED him to do something for her, not that Will necessarily has a 'real' destiny.

In AWE, the idea that Calypso has a hand in deciding who becomes captain is more evident, because it's obvious that she chose Davy Jones to ferry souls, and she really pushes for Will to stab the heart. Destiny? Perhaps a 'touch', which might attract her, but in the end she seems to choose the captain.

DJ made his own geas on the heart, so while Will had to stab it to kill DJ (the ONLY way to remove Davy at this point), the next captain does not have to kill Will since Elizabeth's faithfulness broke the curse.

lovethemtigers: I think that it was leaked that Dominic was hired to play a young Jack Sparrow, but we don't even know if that was a credible source or not. To top it off, it seems that Disney 'allowed' some things to leak, to generate interest and to throw people off of the true intentions of the movie. I suspect that the 'young Jack Sparrow' was one of those instances.

Maybe Jack was supposed to propose to Liz during the final battle and was supposed to be stabbed in the heart saving her 😄 BUT as it was mentioned before Keira didn't want to play in part 4 and probably we can put the ending down to her 😛 That's why the love between her and Will was unnaturally revived and the ending wasn't fully explained.

No...Will and Elizabeth were meant to be married. 😉 Will and Elizabeth's love never faded, but they did hit a rough patch where they didn't understand what the other person was doing.

If anyone's love would need 'reviving', it would be Jack and Elizabeth's. I'm not sure how anyone expected Jack to die by Elizabeth's hand and have him be peachy-keen with it.

I like that the movie did not have Jack immediately embrace all these people who had tried to or did harm him, but it was nice to see how finally they all came together during the Parley scene.

I know, I've written in other thread that because of what she had done to Jack it was impossible for them to be together. However I had a hope 😉

I thought it was good it left me wanting MORE!
