Overpopulation solution YOU DECIDE

OK, play god. We have 100 people stuck on an island. We have wooded area, swamps and ocean (can't drink the water).

We have to keep all 100 people alive by making sure we have good water supply and sewage, none are built yet. And, we have to ensure we pay the 50 men and 50 women their share of work.

How do you handle overpopulation (bras are burning, people having children but not enough food reserves for everyone)?

How would you handle mfg clean water for drinking and for sewage?

What if you allocate work hours and people start to join another island?

How would you handle sickness and disease and education?

Would you go to war to solve overpopulation?

What about crop failure?

How would you institute a money system, as you are able to trade with neighboring islands (as you an war with them to take their production as well and lower your overpopulation)?

What about natural disaster?

How would you handle crime, people stealing food rashings for each other?

overpopulation isn't in the lack of land mass, as it is in the lack of resources compared to the surplus population....

you don't have to answer all of the questions, just whatever clever thing you can think of...

Are half these people gay? Or do the gay people get an island of their own in this one too?

half are gay, they need partners and are convincing the straight people (who we are counting on for the next generation) to go gay, more then what would sustain the system 20 years from now....it's not that we don't want our population to decline 20 years from now as we will be forced to export labor from the neighboring island we may war with later for little of no value compared to the manhours we would have to feed....as the gays in this island get bored with the same partner and need to explore and get "new" meat...but since they don't regulate this, they take more partners then what the system is alloting for in "gay couple hood".

So, let's see if I understand.

The gays will be on a seperate island, but they'll be "feeding off" the population of the straight island due to their inability to be monagamous, and straight people's inability to not be gay? This is all coupled with the fact that there's going to be a war of some kind?

or go on an expedition to find islands that have more food then men/women, and see how many are willing to leave to the other island (hope they get treated well), trading food cargo for humans?

hope not, as it's a gay friendly island as long as the infuence doesn't effect the core population needed to produce the children to sustain the work load 16-20 years from now. If too many go gay, then what happens 20 years later when they are about to retire and not enough men and women to take over the new jobs (and let's say we end up having natural desasters that effects the population, but now they don't want to reproduce b/c they are all gay)...ooooooooo...i'm oversimplifying it....but just in general......

your thinking from the "now" point of view of fun and rights....the issue is now and also the future and how to handle overpopulation, it could happen via war or famine/natural desaster, not necessarily b/c of reproduction...if we have a famine and we lose a lot of men, more men to work the land is gone, but we recover with food to supply us for the next season, we are still overpopulated b/c of the amount of food source.

i use to hear this as a little girl, that our food supply was running low, but i always wondered about when the 1960s came out with this idea of twiggy...to be that skinny, you need to only eat 3 times a week, the less people eat, the more food we have available or don't have to produce....

I have a perfect solution... Do not allow the straight people to gay-morph until they'd had at least two children. Will that work?

that wouldnt solve anything other than having more land to store a rapidly growing population. More food means more children.

what if more work is needed 20 years from now, but the population declined too much, as just b/c we now starved off our undesirables, doesn't mean that the others don't end up dieing from cancer or food poison before they can reproduce, and we need time for the children to work, can't start them working on the field by age 5, (child labor laws), we wait until they are 10, no just kidding, wait until they are at least 17, all that time, we have to feed them and cloth them...what is great "now" may not be great 5-10 years from now.

who do we kill off first? not the doctors or builders? the old people? the ones no one likes? the ones who were born with a disease?

what if a plague hits us right after we kill off the right amount of people...now we have food, but we don't have enough workers to keep the food harvested for next season...
