I liked the original Millar concept for Ultimate Thor. A hippie Thor, what's there not to like?

I'm glad of all the Thor/Asgard related books & specials out there - Marvel must be making this push because of the movie coming next May - but I just want to know that Thor's regular book is on a regular schedule. No more JMS delays.

Just curious, is Thor "The Mighty Avenger" suppose to relate with whats going on currently with marvel and the heroic age?

It was announced at the Marvel Mondo panel that Abnett and Lanning are doing a new Thor/Iron Man series launching in November!

"It's a great opportunity to pair up the characters who is the epitome of mystical legendary and the character who is the epitome of technology." Abnett said.

So we'll have a Thor related series written by Fraction, Hickman, Rodi and DnA coming out in a few months.

Awesome. We also have the Loki mini series and the Thor all ages book. And to think, not too long ago I was complaining about not enough Thor. My wallet is definitely taking a hit.

I got my hands on a full run of Thor 400-450, and I gotta say, IT.IS.AWESOME.

The Tom DeFalco-Ron Frenz era? Sorry; can't concur with that statement. That whole Kirby tribute they were doing, with DeFalco doing an overwrought imitation of Stan Lee? Blah.
I know Walt Simonson was a hard act to follow, but I didn't want what they were doing.

I actually liked DeFalco's run as well as the art although they were blatantly ripping off Kirby's art. But from what I understand, that's what the fans wanted at the time etc. They liked the homages.

Good for you. I'd suggest trying to get #395 to #399 so you can read the more important parts of the Set saga. It was actually a pretty good and underrated storyline. And try and get #451 to #459. Just to see how the Masterson arc really concluded. If you can of course.

If you ever had a thing for the Enchantress, DeFalco starts out his run with an excellent Enchantress story. #383 I believe. I don't know why, but I really liked that story.

However, reading Lee's and Walt's runs are essential if your a Thor fan.

Yep, got my hands on 451-465. I'll read them ASAP.

Yeah, I'm saving up for a full run of 320-380 I found, so I'll be picking up Simonsons run soon.

Question though, why do so many people love Thunderstrike? It was an extremely mediocre series.

JMS confirms "Siege" is what made him leave "Thor" at Comic-Con:

Asked whether he could have anticipated that Asgard, which Straczynski brought to Earth in “Thor,” would be destroyed again as it had the last time it was Earth-based, the writer said simply, “There was a reason I stopped writing 'Thor.' You've pretty much identified it.” He then elaborated by explaining how he saw the value of setting Asgard in the middle of a quiet Oklahoma town. “I was hoping to keep it there for a while, but when I heard what 'Siege' was about I thought, f*ck, I just got here.' So long, guys!”

I would have liked to have seen him finish his story. If not for the damn delays, his run would have gone down in history.

Most people in general refer to that Thor as a Warrior Madness Thor -incorrectly as it was made clear that it wasn't Warrior Madness- so it's understandable. The fact that they placed it in quotation marks is enough for me.

I still don't understand why you and other Surfer fans want it to be Warrior Madness so badly. Warrior Madness Thor is basically a blood lusted Thor. Frankly, a Warrior Madness Thor would be less effective in actual combat than he would be normally. He could lose to a weaker foe (As Balder noted.) I guess Blood and Thunder Thor was similar in that regard.

Bill was the only one who attempted to use superior skill to offset the power disadvantage. It worked to an extent. Warlock attempted this as well I guess. He also realized the folly of trying to overpower Thor. Too bad Surfer didn't come to this realization sooner. Would have saved him a beating.

The glaring mistake in that source book was the reference to "The end" series as if it was cannon. Whatever. Bio's/Handbook's have been known to do that.
