Thor Discussion

Thor beating Surtur was great. I keep telling you guys his at bare minimum Skyfather level when he reaches those extreme levels, but nooooo, it's just me being a fanboy. dur313

And Thor combating a powerful Surtur isn't anything new. He brought him to his knees during Walt's run while he possessed Twilight.

Have you been reading Thor? Loki helped Hela set up a new Hel in Mephisto's realm just before Siege. Currently, Thor, Balder, Tyr, and some other Asgardians are there helping Hela with a problem. Like I said, the continuity is jacked up.

What do you think i mean Thor messed up? He was the one who screwed everythign up. As for Loki setting Hela realm in Mephistos realm i don't recall that one. Hela helped loki at one point in Thor series at least. What issues did Loki set-up the deal.

The deal was made during Siege: Loki, and touched on again during the ongoing Thor storyline. So unless it wasn't really Hela, or it's non-canon, Avengers Prime doesn't make any sense. Before that, Hela was hanging in what looked like Vegas since her realm was gone, which was in Thor #12.

I'm glad Thor continuity was brought up. I thought I either lost my mind or had been drinking heavily. haermm2

Seriously.

nah dude...Thor should not have higher than "herald" showings...they are lol worthy... now if that was superman it would be ok...superman is THAT powerful....😉

seriously now, superman beating darkseid or thor beating surtur does not mean they are on their level. it can mean however they are on the highest scales of the "herald" list

And yet many people say neither Thor nor Supes at the top of the high herald foot chain 😬

Those people are idiots. The two are clearly at the top of the herald food chain.

And if I had to pick the most powerful hero from Marvel and the most powerful hero from DC, they'd be Superman and Thor.

Granted, their stock has fallen since the mid 90's and early 00's (Blood and Thunder/OWAW took place during that era where the two were shown to outmatch their peers when they cut loose.), but with Fraction taking over Thor and JMS over Superman, I think it'll rise again. At least I hope. Both are due for an event where they just beat the utter shit out of their "peers".

Unfortunately for Thor, the Hulk and Surfer seem to have taken a rise on his down time. But whatever, Marvel doesn't give a shit anymore. If a Thor fanboy took over the character, he could have Thor stomp both, and I doubt editors would give a shit. I've had more than one writer tell me that continuity means zilch at Marvel now.

Thor has plenty of higher than herald level showings.

I see the logic in that, but Superman beating Darkseid straight up, or Thor beating Surtur straight up, certainly supports the stance. I don't really think Thor's Skyfather level but he definitely has Skyfather level feats.

It's a bit long, but I think it's worth it. I did "lol" at Thor being Superman with lightning.

Tom Breevort:

Does the 'Rage of Thor' take place in mainstream continuity?

No, it's set in the same continuum as the other Thor one-shots we've done recently.

Well, that's that.

And I know Rage is longing for a Superman/Thor fan team-up to crush the Surfer/Sentry/Hulk dickriders everywhere, but that's not gonna happen. awesome

Haha sure. As if Breevort's statement -especially one phrased like that- changes anything to fanboys. I still remember the Kevin/Breaking into Marvel the Comic's Way discussion I had over on HC and Alvaro. F*cking Gammatards.

I assumed it was non cannon. I can see it being cannon but I really didn't like Odin's portrayal. Outside of that, I'm fine with it. I'd want Peter to come out and give his word. Just to quell any discussions. I know Breevort has been wrong on things he hasn't directly had a hand in.

Breevort's statement also needs to be more specific. The last few Thor one shots have been past Ragnarok cycles and 616 stories (with one or two taking place over different periods)

Lol. You know you want to see that happen just as much as I do. I also know your longing for Thor to beat up Superman. You can pretend, but I know you're a bigger Thorbag than I am.

Can't see the interview now. But if they said that, then that should mean some good feats for Thor of the film; superstrength and flying, not just battling with the hammer.

And is that a fan made poster in the lower right? Because it doesn't look much like Chris Hemsworth.

Asgardian destroyer is is the thor movie.

im happy.

Well, I do think he beats Surfer, if that comforts you.

Really? The thing works for me.

That's what they said apparently. I can't confirm it though because currently my PC doesn't have any sound and my laptop crashed. 🙁

Fanmade pretty sure. I think I saw it -or something similar- flying around a while ago.

I kind of think Thor - Silver Surfer is a stalemate.

heh, apparently Thor will fight Hulk in Hulk 611...

Pak's writing it so the best conclusion for Thor is him getting in a hospital or something... 😬

Interview with Chris Samnee:
http://robot6.comicbookresources.com/2010/08/talking-comics-with-tim-chris-samnee/

Thor: The Mighty Avenger is honestly a really fun book. Solid writing and pretty good art.

A new series, Astonishing Thor -Rob Rodi and Mike Choi- was announced:
http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=27821

The Thor Choi drew in the Second Coming arc looking awesome, and I have faith in Rodi.

We have like 6 Thor titles coming out in a few months:

The main Thor title
Thor: the Mighty Avenger ongoing
Hickman's Ultimate Thor mini series
Thor: For Asgard mini series
Thor: First Thunder mini series

And now this.

Crap, Marvel's going to be getting a lot of money from me in the near future.
