I also like the description they gave of him. "We decided to play up the 'rocky' look of Darkseid, as if his body is actually ossifying, massive, and suffering from constant, constipated physical pain. He wear calipers on his legs and walks with great difficulty."
I'm sure the haters aren't going to have a field day with the "constipated Darkseid who can barely walk".
The last part did sound kind of cool though with everything he touches rotting in his hand and how he casts no shadow because he IS the shadow.

Agreed. Superboy Primes costume looked pretty stupid until Jim Lee drew his rendition.
Overall, I don't think the look is horrible (not like you can get much crappier than the original design anyway) and a decent artist once given some time to play around with it should be able to make him look decent.

Personally, I've always had a soft spot for the 'misleading' look.
I'd love to see Darkseid barely able to walk on his own, looking to be in constant, eternal suffering. Utterly pathetic.
And then, totally dominate the entire JSA.
