yeah looking for the
Spoiler:
scene with whatever it was falling in the water though 😬

ok well if you find it can u post a link? Ill look too.

Just got back from seeing this last night.

Excellent movie, I loved the part in the subway tunnels

Spoiler:
where he puts the nightvision on the camera, then looks up, and you see all those things crawling on the ceiling.

In the movie theater I went to, people were saying "BOOOO" after the movie ended, but that's usual for seeing a movie here in the city, always some idiot that has to voice his comment. Ghetto theater for the lose.

Anywho, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, but it wears on the eyes a bit. If you get motion sickness easily, don't sit way in the front of the theater like I did, as your eyes will literally feel fatigued after the movie.

I absolutely LOVED this movie!! I will agree that the camera movement was a bit much at times, but it totally works with the style of the movie! I don't think I've literally been on the edge of my seat like I was in this movie, it really brought you in.

The ending was perfect.

I watched closely at the last scene, but still

Spoiler:
did not see something fall into the water...if anyone finds the scene on youtube post the link!

Also this movie was hyped up better then any movie ever. Even if you don't like monster movies, people would still go just to find out what the heck the monster is! They did great job with every part of this movie...wish it could have been a little longer though.

so thats what you heard? thats close enough but why would it say
Spoiler:
they're alive and not we're still alive? cause the fact that someone actually said something, it had to be rob or beth... they are the only thing close to the camera, unless its someone that found them
Spoiler:
could be someone did find rob and beth. but clearly, the city hasn't been nuked yet. there could still be survivors. it did say "they're still alive, not "it's still alive." unless they are considering the little spawns that fell off of the monster, which i doubt survived the bombings. rob did manage to kill one with an axe, and lena did it with a pipe.

edit:

Spoiler:
vids on youtube clearly say "it's still alive," and then something else...

The videos on youtube say "Help us." Then, when they reverse it, it says "It's still alive."

I can't believe how much everyone loved this film I mean I thought it was ok, nothing great. I mean it made me mad how fast people recovered from injuries.

Spoiler:
Frickin' Beth one second can barely move the next second she's running down the street like she's perfectly fine. Then they all miraculously survive a helicopter crash and don't have a scratch on them, except for Rob who's leg is apparently broken or something, but he can still run fast enough to escape a thousand foot monster. I mean after that I wasn't going to be surprised if Hud got up after being attacked by the monster and ran like hell.
Also I didn't get the part after they crashed. I mean it looks like they're out in the middle of a flat plain, and they get snuck up on by a thousand foot monster? How in the hell did that happen? I was thinking it went under ground or something that's the only way I think it sneaked up on them.
And as for the ending I didn't feel like it had very much closure. I mean I understand there wasn't anything else they could've done with how they filmed it but I just wasn't satisfied with it. Left me with to many questions.

what a cool movie 🙂

it's a movie. It wouldnt be very entertaining watching someone gather themselves for a long period of time. Besides, their adrenaline was pulsing through their systems at a continuous rate. Considering that it was a monster movie. I feel as though the realistic element was handled very well.

I'm not sure that anyone is claiming this movie to be more than it is....,entertaining. I can understand where your coming from though. Movies today have become quite sophisticated. It is sometimes hard to ignore the little things which can take you out of the movie and force you to realize you are watching a movie. Everything in movies, even the most dramatic films are exaggerated. Sometimes you need to just watch a movie and look at it for what it is, instead of what its not.

But the erratic camera-motion made me incredibly dizzy and I threw up i n the bathroom.

That's never happened to me before...

It didnt bother me what so ever. I thought the director did a fine job at keeping the shots relatively tight. I am usually apprehensive about movies involving hand held camera techniques, but this one didnt effect me. Now, if i had saw this in IMAX my head most certainly would have exploded. Why anyone pays to see movies in IMAX is beyond me

I agree with RR.

The movie is what it is, entertaining. Yeah, there are many unanswered questions, but that fits with the premise of the movie. Hud is videotaping it all, so we only see what he sees and we only know what the group of people on the ground know. If JJ and Reeves had decided to tell the audience everything then I think it would have taken away from the movie.

You're probably right, still bothered about how they didn't notice a thousand foot monster racing towards them in the middle of a field though 😬

I watched the movies this afternoon and it was pretty good. The whole camera thing didn't bother me at all and while a back story on the monster would've been nice, thats not what the movie was about. The only thing that got me wondering was since the

Spoiler:
"parasites" weren't that tough too deal with and they were an extension of their "mother", then why were all the missiles so ineffective. I didn't expect the army to kill it but the monster didn't had a scratch on it. Also it got me thinking about the things we guys do for women, they couldve survived if it wasnt for Rob wanting to get to Beth specially since she died at the end anyways.

and sadly that cost
Spoiler:
her since it seemed she blew up from the inside!
Spoiler:
beth surviving is only half of it. you're talking about 2 skyscrapers, one of which collapses into the other. now i'm no engineer but the structural integrity of both building must be really, REALLY good seeing as how the 2 buildings manage to survive such impacts. whoever made those buildings are relly, REALLY good at their job.

nitpicking, i know... i can't help but put my 2 cents in. in any case, whoever gets the chance should see the movie. great popcorn action.

Spoiler:
looked like one building split in half to me 😬

I thought the movie was okay.. but I don't really like movies were everyone dies, or at least appears to die. Too realistic for me.

Also, I wanted Marleane and Bud to live 🙁

I very much enjoyed this film.

The scenes of panic were very intense and well done. And the style sucked me into the world, as it was supposed to.

It would have sucked me into their world if only the characters look more like real people rather than models or hosts from some MTV show.

Given that view...I did enjoy the film for it's intense and dramatic moments.

I'm with Draco here...however, because this is consider a fictional documentary and is recorded by a non-technical camera person... I will set that aside...but it did get me dizzy every now and then.

Cloverfield...a monster movie. That's what I got and that's what I wanted. Being a big fan of Kaiju monster movies....Cloverfield is in a class by itself. A complete different experience and a much more intense film than any horror film I've seen recently.

I know people indentified this film with The Blair Witch Project. Anyone can see the similiraties. The styles are similar..however, what set this one aside is the love story.

Yes, this was something I wasn't expecting. The love story is the cause for the drive for this film. The human drama is just so small compare to a huge disaster event. Which is true in real life. This is what the film does so well. Despite the fact that disaster happens we (as humans) are willing to journey and endanger our selves for those who we love. Very touching and I'm glad the film kept this as a running theme throught the events.

As far as the monster goes...I've seen better in science fiction and fantasy art and even on toys. The monster looked more out of something from a tv movie. As a matter of fact....I kept thinking to myself..."Hey! haven't I seen this kind of monster before....Aliens maybe?" Then it hit me. This monster isn't original at all. It's clearly inspired by Alien.

With that in mind let me just close this post by saying Cloverfield was fun, entertaining, dramatic and at times funny. All elements in a good movie. This film gets WD's stamp of a...

...4 out of 5.

(This film deliver all the goodies that Peter Jackson's King Kong didn't)

Well, if there was a bar that penetrated my shoulder, and i see a bagillion foot monster close as well, i wouldnt give a crap what injury i have, id be running for my life
