Cloverfield

I Am legend or Cloverfield, a question that has been asked over and over again, my answer remains: Cloverfield. I am legend had a sucky ending.

The reason they focused on the party so much, is so that you can grasp the fact tha thi is supposed to be just another day in NYC, nothing special coming up except for him going to Japan, but it was fairly boring.

That's tough.

Cloverfield made me really depressed, but it was a better movie.

Don't really care much for Will Smith movies anymore. 😬

Hmm I AM LEGEND had a much better story

Cloverfield is much better than I Am Legend.

I think you're better* than the Cloverfield Monster.

😮

*Better as in capable of doing more damage to a city.

I didn't like the movie particularly much (disclaimer: might be due to the fact I watched a cam torrent and was fastforwarding only to the monster parts)

1. the monster wasn't as big as I imagined

2. not a big fan of the monster design (I actually liked the whale version more)

3. the shaky camera was not a pleasant experience...(I mean they should've included brief parts with the shaky cam...but not the whole movie)

4. kinda unrealistic (I know its a friggin monster movie) how they managed to have their camera throughout the entire ordeal...come on, give me a break, if I see a giant monster chasing me, last thing Im gonna do is carry something to slow me down

5. no details on the monster (I understand its deliberate but I would've prefered to learn more about the monster

Well considering that being a storm chaser is a legitimate profession, I'm pretty sure there are adrenaline junkies who would follow a monster with a camera.

As for the movie, I didn't like it very much. The look of the creature was really cartoonish (kinda like the vampire-zombies in I Am Legend) and the idea of a monster trashing and terrorizing a big city isn't very original. No wonder they made the trailers so ambiguous.

you can't even compare a storm chaser to the guys in cloverfield

stormchasers first understand what they're up against and stay a very safe distance...these guys were facing a monster that could've killed them any second, yet they keep holding on to a camcorder? I just don't buy it that it.

and the zombies in I AM Legend were horrible, they looked worse than a D movie, and completely ruined it for me

Despite the marketing, the movie wasn't about the monster.

But I'm sure there'd be adrenaline junkies willing.

I thought the idea of engineering measles to hunt down and kill cancerous growths was pretty interesting. But if you think about it, that's no different than replacing a cocaine addiction with that of some prescription pill.

There are people who really do stuff like that. That's why so manny idiots die during natural disasters.

By 1,000 times, IMO.

It's been a long time since I have been frightened by a movie, and "Cloverfield" did it. Almost too real in some spots.

Indeed, the parallels to 9/11 were handled very well, and made the film feel much more 'real'.

It frightened me as well, but not in a physical manner. It just felt really real in a lot of parts, though, enough to kind of disturb me. I like this disturbed feeling, though.

On the one hand I think more people should use the shaky camera gimmik for movies as it adds a great taste to the movie. On the other hand, everyone will abuse it, and some ass will do it crappily and it'll ruin the experience.

Sorry, Morning Glory, but someone asked to remove that clip of the monster, since Cloverfield is still relatively new.

I found both I Am Legend and Cloverfield enjoyable.

What is with New York City being the center of everything, I ask?

Good question, and it's pretty much been that way since the dawn of film. Horror flicks, disaster flicks, comedies, dramas, film noir, chick flicks and so on.

The one obvious exception is Westerns. 3:10 to Yuma takes places here in Arizona, which was pretty cool.

simply put, new york has the most recognizable piece of americana... the statue of liberty.

which is kinda ironic, cause it's french. 😛

plus, new york is one of the most famous cities in the world.

That's exactly it. NYC is a lot more recognizable to foreigners than Moab, Utah.
