I can't really say for sure, but I think maybe the monster ate him, and either bit him in like half and dropped him, or simply didn't like the way he wasted and sit him out, in which case it would have been the 500 foot fall that killed him. Because I seem to remember that even after falling out it's mouth he was still yelling.

I thought this movie was amazing.

The one part I didn't like was

when Hud and the monster have a face to face. It's not even the actual event that bothered me, I just think that curiousity should have been a trait instilled in the monster first of all, rather than after it's levelled New York

Besides that I loved every second of it. I thought the ending was very hard to watch, just out of thinking too much I suppose. It was a little too real in many scenes, very jarring.

Amazing movie. I loved it.

I just hope dollar signs don't cause Abrams to rape the franchise, he has created something amazing here.

I felt the same way. I was kind of depressed afterwards because of how realistic it was.

Rob and Beth are trying to finish their recording, the bomb hits out of nowhere, and then you can hear the panic and sense of "We're gonna die." in their voices as they make sure they tell each other what they feel. It hits home, because I always make sure I never end phone calls or convos with loved ones on a bad note, just because you never know what's round the corner

Well, I personally didn't care much for Rob and Beth. But when Marlena died I was like" n0o0o0o0o... you and Hud are s'pposed to marry and have lots of kids 🙁 " then Hud died and I was just like "****.".

though i've many criticisms for the film (the failure to adhere to the handheld documentary pretense, the unnecessary [but succesful] intrusion of comedy into the film, the lack of romantic development [i feel the movie could have been measurably richer if more of it was spent on the "candid" footage of rob and beth], the unsatisfying ending, the many plot holes [how in the world are they evacuating eight million people by helicopter, and other such oversights]), i still really enjoyed it.

go figure.

Highly disagree on the host being better than cloverfield

cloverfield is way better than that movie

Just got the Host, and I will be watching it soon. I doubt it will impress me as Cloverfield has.

annoying metrosexual characters i couldnt give a hoot about if they died or not
and again distracting poor CGI creations taking away from the good stuff going on onscreen

as for originality its basically what wouldve happened had Matthew Broderick been handed a video camera prior to Godzilla smashing the **** out of NY
the best part of the trailer with the shillouettes turned out to be two soldiers and a chick about to explode in a tent
i was waiting for two troll type monsters up to that point
all i got was some rejects from Starship Troopers
the scariest thing in the whole movie for me was the playing of SEAN KINGSTONS Beautiful Girls song at the party
now THAT was truly horrific
