err... I did actually. I was actually really excited to see this movie and I knew they had a small budget but I mean, come on. There was no plot, mediocre special effects, and I wanted to punch the person holding the camera.
and how the hell did that camera survive those 7 hours anyway? lol
There was no plot? Clearly you have no idea what you're on about. If your next question is "What plot?", then you simply prove my point. You couldn't have researched it, or you'd know what the movie was about.
You went in, clearly, expecting a C.G.I. fest about a monster, that's not what it was about. Go see Godzilla or something, it's honestly more suited to you. It's all nicely laid out, with genuinely no plot, lots of loud bangs and stuff. There are people here who dislike Cloverfield for understandable and logical reasons, even if I disagree, but people who say a movie had no plot because they're not smart enough to grasp it are just stupid.

Plot.
Meh, for the sake of boredom. From what I saw the plot is basically, uh...
In Godzilla, 'Zilla's running around the city toppling buildings and tons of people are fraking out on the ground, and there's always that zoom in of the random asian guy with the three women behind him screaming "Gojirra!", and then the camera focuses again on Godzilla and the little man is forgotten. Cloverfield is explicitly about the little man and the people following him. Not Godzilla.
That's just what I got from it. Like a movie being set in the middle of WWII or something but the war not really playing a central part in it. You know it's there and it's going on, but that's not what the movies about.
Tired Hiker really disliked Cloverfield, but he came in with a very lengthy, complete and logical explanation of what he felt was wrong, why, and why he didn't enjoy it.
People who want to say it didn't have anything to it, and clearly weren't paying attention, shouldn't really be critiquing it.
You wouldn't receive credibility if you say "Batman Begins is about a man, becomes Batman, defends Metropolis." (Yes, aware that's not what he defends).
I just think people should have opinions, developed ones, ones based on attention they have paid to the subject they are critiquing.

Did anyone pay attention to the movie?Spartan either didn't or couldn't, RJ confused China with Japan and over-simplified the plot, anyone?
At least RJ admits Alien Vs Predator is more suited to his tastes.
Honestly people, critiquing is cool, but at least know what you're critiquing.

And AVP wasnt really that great of a movie, but the gore more than made up for it.
You obviously didn't pay attention if you thought he was going to China, since the country he is going to plays an integral part in the story, which you'd known if you'd done the research and not tried to over-simplify the plot.
You named elements of character traits and plot, you didn't entirely sum up the intent of the movie or the plot itself.
But no biggie, you don't like it, not an issue. I just find Spartan a bit ridiculous.
