That being good in school is not equivalent to being intelligent. Also depending on frame of reference.

Do I confuse you? I can clarify specific parts, if need be.

Maybe you did bad in school, but ummm yeah, it is the equivalent to being intelligent. sorry

My policy is, if you act like an idiot I will call you an idiot. I don't necessarily use it as an insult, just a way to describe the actions or demeanour of a person.

I know people with degrees who have such little general intelligence and common sense that it's hard to have a discussion with them. How is any of this relevant?

"I'm not an idiot.". You, sir, keep ME entertained. This movie was clearly not for you, I think you are making just about the worst case against Cloverfield ever.

HOWEVER, that sure as hell doesn't mean that I think all movies that have big explosions are good. For example, Casino Royale is one of my favorite movies of all time (next to Pirates of the Caribbean and Raiders) while Die Another Day is one of my least favorite movies of all time. Nuff said

It was more a commentary on your idea of what makes a good movie, not that you literally just love explosions. You obviously have a very small perceptive ability and attention span and need to be treated to big flashy visuals to be entertained. If you didn't like it, but understood it and had an educated opinion, I could respect that. You are just clueless, though.

About the camera... the entire concept was retarded. I can almost guarantee that they used this idea because of their budget. I remember watching godzilla a couple of weeks ago and noticed how awesome cloverfield could have been if they shot it like the opening scene with godzilla. I actually found the last part of it on youtube....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5osUPPz2QUY

They filmed pretty much the entire scene from the people's perspective. It came out absolutely incredible, and you could actually see everything going on... not some half ass blurry shots like in cloverfield.

The fact that it was disorientating and fast-cut was the whole point. It was meant to feel as spontaneous and disorientating as the attack itself. It was meant to remove you as far as possible from feeling like you were sitting comfortably in a cinema, even for a minute.

They could have done it like Godzilla, but then it would be shit, and just like every other monster movie. Even if Cloverfield was shit to me, I'd respect the fact that he tried something different, and he's J.J. Abrams. It's not like he couldn't have just cashed in and made a simple action movie with lots of money.

Godzilla was awful, real fans of Godzilla don't even class it as a Godzilla movie. It's like a bastard child.

Are you purposefully trying to discredit your opinion by promoting yourself as a lazy, easily entertained popcorn-chower?

You clearly have no idea what your talking about, because in godzilla they DO have backstorys. Nicks job/relationship, Audrey's life in NY, etc.

That's not a backstory. It's just reason for them to include romance for the girls who might watch the movie. Backstory is when you can look at the history of the character and see a lot there. Wolverine has a backstory, hence why he is getting his own movie. You couldn't make a movie based on "Nick and Audrey" or "Audrey's Life Before Godzilla Came.". That's not a backstory, it's "plot". Incredible awful plot at that.

by the way I'm not over simplifying the plot... at all actually. Please prove me wrong

I did, when you asked me to, or were you too lazy to read that? Should I type in caps to excite your attention?

and about your entire last paragraph you wrote...

Your version of the plot can be summed up by saying this: "Revolves around a monster attack in New York as told from the point of view of a small group of people." That is the actual summary on imdb. Grats

Yes, my "version" can be simplified, that's the entire point I was making. It wouldn't, at all, capture what the movie is about.

Even that I.M.D.B. quote does the movie more justice than what YOU said, which was ridiculous. You are just destroying your own points.

Godzilla was a scared creature as well, nothing more. Also Grats

He wasn't scared. No, no, they made it a female didn't they? Yes.

SHE wasn't scared, she was looking for a place to nest where there was a lot of food. That's why she was there.

They gave the audience no clue how it ended? Are you serious right now? The very beginning says "camera retrieved at blah blah blah CENTRAL PARK" The first thing I said when I watched this was "$20 bucks says they all die" Super Grats

Did they factually all die? No. Again, I guess you weren't watching the movie.

The main characters didn't definitely die, some even escaped on the helicopter.

By the way, just a few more points:

how exactly did you know godzilla would die at the end. Wasn't that obvious to me.

Because it was obvious to me, that's how these movies go. You would recognise this if you had an ounce of sense and intelligence in your perception of movies.

I was using it as an example of the kind of cinema that is appealing to you, and on your level. With every post you confirm why your critique of Cloverfield is ridiculously void of credibility.

This is the irony of your sort of fan. Accept any possible bs thrown at them, and then decide they are worthy of critiquing something that simply had to happen for the movie to exist.

Well, it is not though, factually. It might be in some ways related but it is not really a way of proving it.

Wow. Deluded logic.

"You, sir, keep ME entertained. This movie was clearly not for you, I think you are making just about the worst case against Cloverfield ever."

read the next line dipshit.

"It was more a commentary on your idea of what makes a good movie, not that you literally just love explosions. again your completely disregarding what I just said.

I know it was meant to be like that and I didn't like it. Its called an OPINION. get used to it.

real godzilla fans by the way, are a bunch of japanese people who enjoy watching ridiculously cheasy movies about a guy in a rubber suit that fights other monsters. They're opinions obviously count. Not to mention how practically every other country known to man hates America.

"Are you purposefully trying to discredit your opinion by promoting yourself as a lazy, easily entertained popcorn-chower?"

no I just don't have as much free time as you

... and I'm done arguing about godzilla

"Did they factually all die? No. Again, I guess you weren't watching the movie.

The main characters didn't definitely die, some even escaped on the helicopter."

I remember on the cloverfield site or something it said hud's height went down to 2'6" or something, which usually = death. The black girl might have escaped but then again there was an explosion right after they took off which could have been her helicopter. the rest of them died. end of story.

"Because it was obvious to me, that's how these movies go. You would recognise this if you had an ounce of sense and intelligence in your perception of movies."

no you're lying and once again you're an *******

"Let's not bullsh*t ourselves, you will love it, won't you?"

Neil is a BAD director. So maybe, maybe not

"I was using it as an example of the kind of cinema that is appealing to you, and on your level. With every post you confirm why your critique of Cloverfield is ridiculously void of credibility."

about that... I saw the movie for the first time before I hit ****ing puberty. so maybe if I saw it now for the first time, it wouldn't be as funny. Again, my opinion.

"This is the irony of your sort of fan. Accept any possible bs thrown at them, and then decide they are worthy of critiquing something that simply had to happen for the movie to exist."

which again is why I hate the handheld camera idea. Why can't you just accept that other people have opinions. honestly, get over it. I didn't like it, you did... big ****ing deal.

peace?

- They're opinions obviously count.

their

...did you clean that statistic?

It was pretty obvious that Godzilla wouldn't destroy NYC and live happily ever after.

Austin Powers is hilarious, fact. AC is gay.

If their opinions don't count, then yours certainly doesn't. Most of the real Godzilla fans recognise that it's very cheesy, very obvious, but find it very endearing. It's part of what makes up Godzilla, nobody is ignoring it, just embracing it for what it is.

Some of them have been utter shit, some have been funny, some have been genuinely good movies for the genre.

At least Toho can say they made movies unlike any other that were out. Godzilla U.S. was just another American monster movie.

I've continually said, and proven, that I do not care if someone dislikes it. My qualm is with idiots who have idiotic opinions based on nothing. A lot of what you've said has also been wrong, outside of opinion, also a factor.

how isn't it?

"Do you know for a fact that they definitely died? Prove to me they died."

you're supposed to believe that they die. thats very clear. and we know 2 of them did.

Then why say it? Odd.

because it was probably one of the only scenes in a movie that I remember crying from besides bruce almighty

I wasn't asked what we're supposed to believe. If he wanted us to definitely believe they died, we would have seen them die.

Am I not getting through to you at all?
