Yes it was true that he went toe to toe with Thor with a power gem. All quanchi does is state a sentence and follow it up with Thaons ftw without any real relevance to the fight at hand. Sure he went blow for blow with Thor but its a lot tougher to go blow for blow with Doomsday because
a) I'd be willing to bet he hits just as hard as Thor with a power gem, maybe even harder given the spikes on his fists will leave some imprints
b) When you go blow for blow with DD youre gonna feel his blows but he isnt gonna feel yours
