Yesterday I wound up complaining to GK on the phone about how they don't market Metroid to women, despite the fact that it's a rare game series with a female main character that is more than able to handle things herself and wears more than a square yard of fabric.

But nope, since it isn't the Sims or a puzzle game, it can't be marketed to women ermm

So Sims and puzzle games are the only games women can enjoy?

That's what marketing seems to think. Sims, puzzle games, and casual games like the Imagine series on DS. Basically, the most basic of games, and the shovelware shit.

Totally agree, especially with the focus on more simplified gameplay that almost anyone could pick up and do reasonably well. Someone who had never touched a video game before (many women I know won't touch em) could experience a very good game with a strong female lead who's not just another gaming archetype.

Okay enough with the X-Play bashing. You guys make it sound like they're the only ones viewing Other M negatively.

GoNintendo gave it a 7.2, describing the response to the game as mixed and saying: "Nintendo gambled once with the Metroid series, and that gave us the fantastic Prime series... Nintendo once again gambled with Metroid, and Team Ninja was their choice. I like that Nintendo takes risks, but this time they've run out on their luck."

GamesRadar gave it a 7, noting that while it has its moments, it fails in comparison to earlier games in the franchise, and has some glaring flaws.

I don't like the Prime series at all. Other M looks more interesting.
