Woohoo, official off-topic thread!

I consider it to be so.

I would not be happy if I got a C in a class, why would I be happy with a C-level game?

7 out of 10 is bad?

Depends on one's point of view.
IMO, if it were a game I really wanted to play, 7 would be alright.
If it were a random game or a game I might want to play, 7 would be bad.

I thought 1-6 is bad while 7-10 were good games.

Damn overachiever. I got on my knees and thanked the gods when I graduated last year with a D- average.

You lie. o.o

I'm shameless enough to post my final report card. Don't tempt me, I'll do it. I'm a man on the edge!

Well really it is all opinion based, if I like a game some reviewer is not gonna change my mind.

But nah, 7 is "average."

I do not shell out 60 dollars for mediocrity.

Not even saying Other M is.

By all rights a 5/10 is an "average" rating, but because the market is saturated with so many games, people have the leisure to pick and choose, which moves the perceived average up to 6-7.

Personally, I say any game that interested me and got a 9-10 is worth owning, and a game that got 7-8 is worth renting or borrowing from a friend. If it turns out I like it well enough I can buy it eventually.

I thing a 7-10 is worth a check and buy for me.

Anyway here's Cole's finalized model.

Oh so Peach was being sarcastic lol?

Tired, did not catch that.

I was most definitely being sarcastic.

I take huge issue with how video games are (or, for the most part, aren't) marketed to women.

DO IT I DARE YOU

Why?

I already said why on the last page, with my comment that NemeBro was unsure if it was sarcastic or not. They do not market games towards women at all, unless they're puzzle games or the Sims. 99% of games are only marketed towards men.

And if I'd read it, I wouldn't be asking you now. Haha.

My question: Why does that bother you? I mean, from my observations, you play quite a lot of games and enjoy some of them, despite the majority of them not being marketed toward you.

Pardon me being blinded by my meat-headed machoism, but how would one market a game to women?

Curious on your thoughts.

Put in elements that are the opposite of what is in current games?

Like, naked guys instead of girls, and... other stuff? Strong female protagonists?

I don't know.

Because it just plays into the stereotypes that 1) women do not play video games and 2) on the rare occasions they do, can only handle casual games.

Which are, you know, not true.

Anything that is sexist is going to bother me, obviously.

Acknowledging the existence of women gamers would be a start. The majority of game advertisements play up over-the-top violence, drugs, gore, sex, etc. as much as they possibly can - the sort of thing that appeals primarily to mentally immature guys. Which also has the effect of repelling anyone who isn't in that category.

I can do without the naked guys, but strong female protagonists? **** yes, we need more of that. Stop relegating the girls to a sidekick position at best, and let them be more than just eye candy.
