Says the guy who probably watched the Zelda cartoon. Which even by the lowest of kid show standards is horrible shit.
The Super Mario Brothers Super Show was also awesome at the time. As a kid, it filled me with glee.

Clearly you're kidding.
I wouldn't know. Never watched it. But from what I've seen of it, it certainly wasn't much compared to said 'mon shows. ๐

Because we all know plot and characters you can relate to are important to children. The reason I like Pokemon is and always has been for the creatures in it. Digmon did not have a single good one in every series I have seen, except for perhaps the one where they turned into the Digimon, in which case Lobomon, the beetle and the bear were all awesome. And then they ruined them by making the human forms insignificant in favor of Beast forms and absurd fusions. So I wasn't even watching the one that I liked for very long.
Crappy opinion. Digimon never had a monster called "Gear" that was just a gear.

As a kid it really got the imagination going.

Such as? ๐ฎ
Compared to the 'mon shows, they just aren't interesting. Well, Zelda wasn't. Don't know about Mario.
The Zelda show was admittedly not as good as the Mario show, but it still had things in it that were pretty awesome.
Like the underworld which could open up anywhere in Hyrule and the labyrinthine way it was set up, just a really cool settings.
The 'Mon shows just seem to lack the ability to "JUST BECAUSE" their settings the way the old Nintendo shows did. Meh!

Oh....so it's the settings you liked.....Well excuse me princess, I hadn't much thought about that. Not that good settings override a good plot and characters of course. ๐
