I wonder what the anime would have been like if it was anything like competive play. Ash finally befriends Pikachu, only to breed a new, better Pikachu, proceeding to release the ones that don't have the right nature or IV. And then keep doing that.

The game certainly hints that, as do most Pokemon media. Still not there though.

Then it's probably relevant to a point you made that I ignored in favor of focusing on a different thing you said. So I just don't care. 😐

Then I'll put it in simple terms: By the time it would be possible for IVs or EV's to come into play, the game is already beaten and there simply is no need to bother with it. Unless you happen to compete competitively, which is again more of a testament to Pokemon's popularity than anything else. Considering how sloppy IV's/EV's are talked about briefly by the NPC's, the only way to know about these things is to google it. And why would you bother if you've already beaten the game? So you can compete competitively of course. Again, popularity.

As a single player run through, IV's/EV's do not come into play. In the slightest. And even during a replay it doesn't come into play if you're just doing it for fun. This is depth that adds nothing to the game whatsoever and is only remotely interesting if you plan on competing against other people. And even then, I'd just battle rather than relying on IVs/EVs anyway.

Still, no idea on the depth of the Digimon game. From what I've heard, there actually is a lot that I may dab my hands into when I get my 3DS. I can certainly see the possibilities.

I was working my way into proving that depth not gone into is not worthless depth. But you already admitted that anyway.

The suckfest here is incredible.

Pokemon probably has the greater depth in terms of the games, yeah.

Digimon, the show, was far superior to the show of Pokemon.
