It is silly for it doesn't hold some of its values pure. Now don't take me wrong, for my closest friend is Christian. I love her, I respect her and I don't doubt her faith or that in which she put her faith. That doesn't mean the book isn't silly, because of two reasons.

1. It's written by man.
2. Man is biased.

I don't believe I said you were wrong. Just that the statement could be taken offensively, which it is and I have yet to hear how it couldn't be taken offensivley.

1. Obviously.
2. Indeed but that doesn't prove anything.

Giggle.

This guy needs to understand what the bible *is* before calling it evil. It really is funny.

I don't believe you said that either, so that makes two of us. So you missed my point. That's what I get for going deep ๐Ÿ˜›

The reason I find the Bible silly, is because it's so cryptic. I apologize you found it offensive. It was not my intention to offend anyone ๐Ÿ˜ฎ The reason I think it is, is because of how some proverbs can have up to a dozen interpretations.

You'd think a book so lengthy would give some clear messages ๐Ÿ˜‘

Pinkie, I know people who would be convinced you're going to Hell for interpretations like these.

...Point?

That Orscon Scott Card is against gay marriage...

It's right there really, you just had to read it.

No, I understood the concept. It just came outta nowhere. haermm

Something with multiple interpretations does not make it silly. In fact, English classes are devoted to reading old texts that could have several meanings.

Religious texts are often cryptic. That doesn't make it silly. The bible is one of, if not the most, important books of all time. And that is not me talking in a religious sense. And no, I'm not offended. ๐Ÿ˜›

Meh. On occasion it is very clear and on some you just want to punch a hole through a wall. Probably due to it being composed of various authors.

Yes but it doesn't seem relevant.

Dumbledore was gay. See? I can say random stuff as well.

Two pages ago you talked about Ender's Game, one page ago everyone else was talking about homophobia.

What does Card's feelings about homosexuallity have to do with the quality of Ender's Game? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Who said it did?

The bible is about a magical man in the sky that will shower your life with blessings for blindly following him, and praising his name, but he will send u to an enternal, unholy, sea of fire if you're bad... But he loves u? Sounds like brain wash to me. The bible is the original mien kampf. ๐Ÿ˜› In other news, Ender's Game, and all of the other books following its release are pure win. ๐Ÿ˜„

Wow, doubly offensive.

Note: All authority works that way. ๐Ÿ˜›

That said, you lose my respect. As Twilight followed its release.

Assumed.

Oh please. It is not offensive to call the bible a "silly book" (which it is - it's really nothing more than a collection of faerie tales, just ones that people choose to call religion), nor is it offensive to not believe in said religions and find them silly.

Assuming I fully comprehend what you're saying, there's a chance I'll see them there.

It didn't, though. I related my reason for thinking the Bible silly with the ongoing topic about homosexuality. You replied to a post where I was answering Bardock42 that the author he mentioned had a reason to his belief, so to speak ๐Ÿ™‚ You missed the relevance though. Fail on my part with that.

You don't have to tell me any of that. I'd think it abundantly clear by now that I've studied both English and Religion ๐Ÿ˜› That English classes teaches analyzing old texts doesn't matter at all however. With modern English at our disposal, a lot of the old texts are silly. Not just the Bible. On the same matter, just because the Bible is the most important book of all time, doesn't mean it can't be silly. The Bible is insensately written, a word I'd parallel with silly.

On occasion yes, but you can't say that the clarity is abundant. There has been wars because of how some interpret it. A book about a loving, forgiving God shouldn't do that. Especially one that view Jesus as the messiah. People obsess so much about the minor details that they miss the big pictures. Why? Because it's written in a silly, unrewarding (insensate) manner ๐Ÿ™‚

My friend who is a Christian, the previously mentioned friend, is even critical about the content. She would both agree and laugh with me during both ridicule and calling it silly and she's born and raised Christian. A firm believer.

Since when are Christians oppressed in any manner or denied rights in the modern world?

And no, "Stop complaining and recognize you're not the only ones around" is not oppression.

O___o What are you talking about?

The fact that obviously you did not follow my previous argument about how homophobic/sexist/racist/etc. jokes are offensive regardless of intent.

Nope, don't see it.

If someone is offended by a comment that comment is offensive. Neh.

Except there is absolutely no reason why someone should be offended by someone else not believing in their religion, and finding the out-dated and contradictory teachings in the book silly, unless they are exceptionally insecure in their belief.
