Woohoo, official off-topic thread!

Half-Life 2 Episode 3 and the cure for cancer indicate the former.

So, Nintendo wins E3 two years in a row. Awesome. mmm The Wii-U looks INCREDIBLE. ๐Ÿ˜

Looks like shit to me.

Spoiler:
Pretty much.

Hm, and you guys rip on Moo's taste. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Nintendo move back toward the hardcore market and everyone dismisses it, despite the technical specs revealing three processors, and the tech demo with 3d models looking like the pre-rendered shit on current gen consoles. Nintendo's always done the best first party games, and they have a pile of third party support. I'm stoked.

I'm mostly trolling you though.

And Moo's taste is shit.

It's basically what I and a few others pointed out in the Wii U thread. Most hardcore gamers are very set in their ways and surprisingly conservative, and 1) don't like sharing their hobby and 2) immediately dismiss anything that's out of their comfort zone (what they're used to) as not being worthwhile. In short, most of them tend to be whiny children who pout when everything's not catered 100% to them, and need to grow up.

That means nothing from the mind of one who enjoyed Demon's Souls.

Sounds like most people who grew up with Pokemon.

Give it time, E3's only just over. People didn't think the Wii would be a success this time back in '05 either. As Nintendo has more time to show off their stuff general opinion will improve.

And people who hate on Nintendo for being "kiddy" will just continue to suck. That's simply a constant.

I just don't like how gimmicky it all looks. ๐Ÿ™

I don't own a tv. The option to play some or most games without a tv at all is really pleasing to me and potentially saves me 300$ until I can get one. The option for virtual buttons on a controller which already has four shoulder buttons, two analogue sticks, ect, it's all just very versatile.

1080p is not gimicky, a 1080p touchscreen where you can put your menus and shit so you don't need to pause the game, or actually /play the game there/ is *awesome*. The machine is powerful and versatile, it has 3rd party support, this isn't a gimmick, just slightly unorthodox.

Unorthodox=/= gimmick.

I was talking more about the golf putting thing or holding it up to catch a ball/shoot people and the other wierd uses the trailer showed off. Gimmicks.

....If you don't own a TV, how do you play Zelda games? ๐Ÿคจ

Also, gimmick doesn't automatically mean it's bad.

You would never see me deny that the Wii was more successful (Made more money) than the PS3 or 360.

But it is the inferior system.

Motion controls like the Wii's are a downgrade, not a true innovation.

It doesn't help that it's graphical capabilities and processing power are IIRC more like the original XBOX's.

Wii-U will probably be a better system than the Wii.

It kinda does. It means a lack of versitility. How is that golf putting feature going to work in anything else other than golf games? Or that throwing star thing? They're just gimmicks designed to look new and innovative imo.

That's only if everything else is up to par and if the gimmick is not a step backwards.

Everything the Wii is not.

I memorized them when I did have a tv. u.u For everything before GC, I have emulators, which I don't feel bad about because I legitimately legally owned all of the games I emulate. I also use a texture pack for OoT to make it prettier. Soon I'll have a 3DS and an official prettier OoT. ๐Ÿ˜„

For GC+ era Zeldas I go from memory and Youtube, honestly.

Also, I own a DS and PH, but not ST.

Your a scary gai.

The motion sensing isn't specifically designed for only golf games, though. A golf swing or throwing star are just two simple and easy-to-demonstrate applications for the controller's versatile touch and motion controls.

I'll tell you what's got me interested, is what's under the hood of that "shield" demo. While the application of blocking arrows is simple and not too interesting, what it actually means is that the controller can gyroscopically keep track of its angle and position in 3D virtual space. On a controller where the screen can instantly react to that sort of spacial information, it's just a step away from incredibly immersive virtual reality.

Imagine something like an adventure game that overlays a virtual dungeon on your home as you walk around it, visible through the screen as you explore. Maybe you're looking for treasure, or fighting enemies that pop out from behind corners, or any number of things like that.

The 3DS' "Face Raiders" software is already similar to that, but a home console with more power would be able to perfect the motion tracking and do something truly inspiring.

Kool.
