Imagine something like an adventure game that overlays a virtual dungeon on your home as you walk around it, visible through the screen as you explore. Maybe you're looking for treasure, or fighting enemies that pop out from behind corners, or any number of things like that.
Unless I misunderstood exactly what you meant.

Originally posted by General KalieroOr they could go the whole nine yards and sell ENTIRE HOUSES that are game systems that use the technolog that could theoretically make the walls, ceilings, and floor themselves a tv/computer/game screen and everything would look like a super kewl awesome dungeon insde your mega fun house. : D
The concept would need a lot of fine-tuning, but that was my immediate concept, yeah. The game could use low-visibility darkness to mask the process of recognizing walls and doors before rendering a virtual texture to match them, if the process even took that long to perform. Like carrying a torch through a cave or something. End result being that it generates a virtual space matching the dimensions of the space you're playing in.
I have also heard Kinect's technology is being used to make intereactive holograms. mmm
PERHAPS USE THAT TECHNOLOGY IN TANDEM TO FILL THE GAME WORLD OF YOUR HOUSE IN!?

Hell, extend the concept and range a bit further, and you have the first LAMMORPG*. Turn a neighborhood or an entire city into a fantasy realm with magic, swords, and absolutely no griefing because you could murder that son of a ***** in a second.*pronounced "Lamb or pig"
Though, to be serious, ideally, the future of gaming takes place completely mentally.
If you don't have your own TV, if you literally can't even spend like 70 bucks for a 16 inch television, then how can you afford:
1. Video games, which cost like 60 bucks not including taxes, and/or
2. The $400 console itself.
With 400 bucks you could buy a Wii/360/PS3 and a 20 inch 1080p plasma screen TV.
ermm
I'm really not buying the "you can use the Ipadcontroller as a TV!" argument.

So, Nintendo wins E3 two years in a row. Awesome. mmm The Wii-U looks INCREDIBLE. ๐

It's basically what I and a few others pointed out in the Wii U thread. Most hardcore gamers are very set in their ways and surprisingly conservative, and 1) don't like sharing their hobby and 2) immediately dismiss anything that's out of their comfort zone (what they're used to) as not being worthwhile. In short, most of them tend to be whiny children who pout when everything's not catered 100% to them, and need to grow up.

Also, I in theory /could/ buy a small tv and one of those, but with the wii-U coming out there's no reason to buy a Ps3 or a 360. Not that I couldn't already get 90% of their good games on the PC, which sort of alleviates my need of a tv further. Without a tv my gaming has admittedly suffered, in that I haven't been able to play my Wii.

The consoles I'm actually interested in; the Wii-U and 3DS, have their own screens, and one can use a tv. I'll buy the Wii-U first if I can.
Also, I've never seen a tv of any reasonable size for less than 200$ mmm

You're not willing to buy a 20 inch television for 100 bucks (I have a 1080p 32inch LCD that I got for $120 on tiger direct, btw. never underestimate da intranets), but you have no qualms about playing games on anIpadcontroller that has a 3 inch screen?
If I can find a cheapish one, sure, but I tend to buy things with the frame of mind that I want to get several years use out of it. mmm So, I want to buy a 30-ish inch tv when I finally do.
