From a Factual viewpoint Sakura was so useless in Naruto that she frequently was more of a hinder than a help. And the cream on the cake is this damage is still present. Naruto's promise of a lifetime.
She was far more interested in her own happiness (and by consequence Sasuke's)
From a 'relative standpoint' Sakura has done more damage than she'll ever heal, even having been taught by Tsunade.

Hinata has literally served zero purpose in the entirety of the manga beyond being a plot device for Naruto's focus. That's just a fact. By feats, abilities, and heresay from the other characters, Sakura is the most competent female character in Konoha barring Tsunade, and one of the most competent in all of the mythos. That's also a fact.

She's learned the medic strength art faster than the master of medic strength anticipated, out maneuvered Sasori several times and had him scratching his head at how she could possibly make an antidote to his poison in so little time (according to him it's impossible and to do so would be beyond even his abilities) and managed to defeat Kiba, Sai and Lee effortlessly.
I mean, yah she's not on the other two's level, but she's definitely a prodigy.

Not incorrect at all, Sakura has done damage in the series, by her own admission even. You say Hinata has done nothing. True, also true for many characters in the series. That said by the same token neither has she failed many times. The only incident she did was against pain and she was never going to win that.
Physical actions only go so far with a cast as big as Naruto's, attitude also counts. Sakura's simply put; stinks. Hinata, when shown is actually a good team mate, not just to the boy she likes either, a massive improvement.
If such things are factored into the thought process when considering would Hinata have screwed up as badly were she in team 7, the answer is irrevocably 'No'.
and agreed. If MLP can dominate an unrelated-thread in whcih others expressed a dislike or lack of interest in it, then I have no quarrels with a brief banter of pretty much anything else =\ There's no way that would be out of line

Compared to Naruto and Sasuke, she's ordinary.
However, she's fairly unrealistic considering the leap she made in less than two years. Coming up with an antidote to Sasori's poison with just an inspection, is uber, and it made Chiyo, a notable medic, shit herself.
She was poised to surpass Tsunade too.
Only reason she isn't awesome as far as skills are concerned, is because Kishi forgot about her after Sasori.
