"Doing nothing is better than failing" Failure made into a sentence. There are endless fine sounding quotes I could use but my personal favourite is;
'Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.'
It is precisely this that is one of the main reasons I like Hinata more than Sakura. You have to have been in the position to understand how much mental effort it takes to carry on trying when you fail. It's rare someone is capable of it. Anyone can sit on their arse and do nothing.
You probably found one of possible two days she was shown actually trying to improve. And surprise surprise Sasuke happened to be around. Sakura exerts possibly the least effort of anyone (maybe Ino actually, but probably only due to lack of 'screen time' and Ino actually has a job) in the series until Tsunade takes her on.
Hinata's wanting of Naruto to win was not done openly. Therefore how can you condem her as a bad team mate for this? Sakura openly treated her team differently which is why that is bad. And on the same note were Naruto against Shino her position would be the same. Therefore strictly pertaining to the team she was not being bias.
Actually no. Being cheated off was never against the rules. Cheating was. You think if you get caught cheating off someone that person would also be punished? Absurd =P
A valid point however so pale it's a ghost in the face of Sakura's performance against Gaara. Sasuke was hurt and she was predictably, fawning over him as opposed to getting him out of there or focusing on Gaara. She was even ignoring Naruto was was trying to talk to her. It was this lack of action that resulted in her being captured. So while I agree with you, it's meaningless in this particular discussion.
You're talking as though Hinata might've stood a chance. She didn't. She never would have. It's irrelevant.
Bonus point; Is lying to your team mate about returning affections you know they have harboured for you for years considered to be both a bad team mate and a massive b*tch? XD

You're not seriously trying to attach Sakura's attempt to prove herself to Sasuke while in a discussion concerning Hinata of all people are you? Granted, we do see Sakura training, which is more than can be said for Hinata, who we really are only told is training really hard.

Sort of was but are you saying bad thoughts are okay so long as they're not public? Also on that same page, lo and behold Sakura is not treating Naruto like garbage. See, Sakura does treat Sasuke better than Naruto and does condescend him. But she really does acknowledge Naruto, want him to succeed, and does care about him.

In this particular test, yes. It was never addressed so this is all an assumption on my part, but a test where the importance of information is one of the main points of the test, giving away your information to what is for all intents and purposes an enemy is not a good thing. Ibiki would punish her more likely than not, all the while wondering what kind of ninja gives away info to someone they like. :3

Yep, between Hinata's situation and Sakura's, Sakura was definitely the one that involved the most fawning. Why, I remember her declaration of love was most heartbreaking. Sakura truly was head over heels in love with Sasuke, not thinking of him as a fellow ninja at all, and she was clearly unable to see that it wasn't the time to confess your feelings.

But I will win this. Sakura is the better character by virtue of being a fleshed out character. Hinata really isn't.
