Yep, that bit always gets me. ALL THE TEARS! Though if you've seen the character analysis for Henry (you watch JO right?) is funny that the dub added that part in just for pathos, but its still just about the saddest thing ever. Though yeah:

Do you mean the 3rd series overall or just the 3rd series you've watched? Because he's done like 12 series' so far. Otherwise he hasn't undated his Upcoming episodes list so who knows. It was the fact that it was famous that made it sad. And Matt's story didn't make sense. He somehow flew a ship that was meant to go to the moon all the way to Mars? How? o.O

No one watches FiM magic because it's a "good" show, even if it is. People watch it because of the huge stigma behind grown men watching a show made for little girls. So it's like "haha look at how ironic I am for watching this show that's for little girls! hahaha"
Hence the meme. If people watched it because it was "good" then you would see people pasting Nathan Fillion from Firefly's head on to every picture in existence. You don't.

People watch it because it's actually good. The stigma is part of was part of it at first, before people realized it was good. Now it's just people who don't watch the show that make such a huge deal about it, which, incidentally, makes them targets for trolling.
The "meme" is just something that happens with a sufficiently large fanbase. Homestuck, Sonic, and Friendship is Magic have pictures and crossovers. Firefly has quotes and Tvtropes, not unlike Monty Python.

Pretty much because any time guys like something that's not marketed to them, it has to be made a huge deal of. Because pretty much everything is marketed to guys, so something that isn't is a rarity.
I like MLP, but I definitely don't understand the huge obsession with it that so many have, and the whole "brony" thing really bothers me.
