another victory for science. Looks like Adam Jensen and Shepard weren't far off about synthetic DNA.

I prefer the Baldur's gate-esque gameplay to killing waves of trash mobs, I liked the Fade and.... well yeah ok, get rid of the mage hats, but still!
Never played Baldur's Gate, but I don't want to sit there for half a goddamn hour planning out tactics just to beat one battle, then repeating that for the entire game. Nor do I feel like I should have to master something as convoluted as tactics just to play the game. Regardless however, nobody plays Dragon Age for its gameplay anyways.
By the way, there's an open beta for Diablo III this weekend, just need a battle.net account.
I downloaded it but haven't looked at it yet, from what I've been hearing it's near-impossible to get on because the servers keep kicking people out left and right. I know it's a stress test, but come on now, that's slightly ridiculous...

So how does "the gameplay looks underwhelming" translate into a spiel about graphics? Also the "RPG system" is game mechanics, not something seperate.
1. Y u mad? It's a silly post. 😬
2. I clearly was acting as a troll towards blizzard. It is supposed to suffice as a lame apologetic substitute for why Diablo III looks outdated.
3. I always and will continue to separate out "RPG elements" from "game mechanics". Basically, I'm referring to the dice roll system that is incorporated into the game mechanics. For me, it's like saying, "I like my money, stocks, and bonds." It's all money!
...I'm a roleplayer. I know what a dice-rolling system is. It's still part of the game mechanics - and in a game like Diablo, it is the main game mechanic.
The system behind a roleplaying game is only part of it - most of it is the actual, you know, roleplaying. That's why it's called roleplaying and not roll-playing...

DA: 2 just happens to have the better plot and characters, and since I am smarter than you, I am clearly correct here.

See, I come from an old system of role playing board game days were there was literally a rolled a 20 sided die for our turns. I consider, and will continue to consider, dice rolling in RPG-type games to be a tool of the game mechanics, not the game mechanics themselves. The game mechanics, to me, are the rules that deal with what those dice roles actually mean. Just because an industry wants to define terms a certain way, does not mean I have to. Also, WTF cares if I listed out multiple items in a list with some overlapping? 😐
Edit - I googled searched and dice roles are considered part of game mechanics. So my comparison of "money, stocks, and bonds" still work. It's all money of some kind...

The fighting isn't even slow though. I was 80% through the game, playing on hard mode, and my average battle lasts about 45 seconds. I'm not even using IMBA classes. Main character's a backstabbing rogue; tank Alistaire, DPS Sten and healing Wynn. C'mon son.
