This clearly indicates that by being spared from Sheol and being shown the path of l leads to eternal pleasure with God who is in heaven.
So being spared from your body rotting is guaranteeing you to heaven??

* yeah right, the "real jesus"... but based on what?

And why not?? Was it a bit inconvenient???

* yes, it was... but you obviously accepted only the Old Testament and rejects the New, so where did you base your belief on your "real jesus"?

In what sense was Ancient Egypt temporally/spatially near the Garden of Eden and or Adam/Eve? Egypt, with it's three thousand + year history. Theoretically it is believed that if Moses existed and led the Jews out of Egypt it would have been sometime during the New Kingdom - meaning Egypt had already been around and dominant for well over a thousand year (or was it two thousand?) And there was no Garden of Eden known of in Egypt - and it should have known, it has strong connetctions to all the surrounding cultures, as well as those that predated it (Sumerians, also with very long history) - if the Garden did exist, it was long gone by the time Moses popped up.

* yes, but it was still early compared to the time of Jesus...

But anyway - depending on who you believe, "Hell" was about since Satan got himself evicted from Heaven, so by rights Hell would have existed. And since people without God go to Hell, by rights Hell should have been really relevant. I mean, where did all those Egyptians God killed go when they died? And all the others? It is a question I often ask what chance did people have prior to Jesus to escape hell? Seeing as Jesus is the only path to salvation, and there were millions that lived before his time - what happened to them? Usually the response it a kind of nervous: "there were servants of God around before Jesus, so people knew about God..." but apparently not. Why wouldn't Moses talk about Hell? Hell, I'd think it would be fairly important for his people to know if they didn't obey there was a little pit of flame with their name on it waiting. But, apparently not. Hell only becoming relevant much later.

* if you believe the existence of hell, there's no problem with me... you can debate with ms.debbiejo... 😉

I beleive Hell does exist. I just don't think you have to die to get there. You can find Hell all over this Earth. Go to broken homes, live in the shoes of the impoverous, become a drug addict, acquire A.I.D.S., go to war and get your limbs blown off, have your confidense destroyed because people reject your physical appearance, etc.

Hellis suffering that one cannot find justification for. It's suffering for NO REASON. It is a common psychological fact that most people can endure any kind of suffering as long as they can find reason in it, or as long as they can see a good future come out from it.

When people have to go through immense suffering, for NO REASON, and without any kind of justification, THAT my freind Is Hell....

Hell is now IMO, yes.........What if these is what Jesus was really trying to say? If it was proved to you (anyone), would it change how you lived now??

* the Christ Jesus stated in the Bible preaches the existence of hell... the 4 Gospels have it, the epistles of the apostles also preaches it, moreso on the Revelation... 🙂

* the New Testament supplies what hell is, it's characteristics, what will happen when someone gets there, etc., however i know you don't believe in the New Testament, so if i post something from it, my post would seem irrelevant and inappropriate... 😉

Only because the idea of Hell existed way before Christianity and Judaism came about....

Doesn't matter how many times you re invent the concept of Hell....it most likely does not exist. Or does in life in the way that most human beings understand it to.

No, I don't believe in it, but I do accept the debate exists in what a Christian says hell is compared to another Christian.

* however, IMO, true Christians base their faith in the what the Scriptures says... those who are not in according with it should not be called Christians...

* and the existence of HELL is really in the Bible, preached by Christ Jesus... 😉

And? Christians interpret the scripture differently. How many of the sects/denominations out there have different opinions on what is being said? They base their faith on their interpretation, or the interpretation of a Church. And different opinions exist on what hell is.

peejayd's caviot for that is that they are not "true" Christians.

And don't go to the "True" church... 😉

A statement which is often a fallacy (the No True Scotsman Fallacy), since the term Christian is used by a wide and disparate variety of people. This broad nature of the category is such that its use has very little meaning when it comes to defining a narrow property or behaviour.

Yes..like most big general words.

I wouldnt give Satan a chance in Hell against a woman's ego. He'd rule earth for a day, then we'd see him outside mowing the lawn

sounds very sexist and wrong.
