Hell

You stated that he was speaking literally about the center of the earth on the basis of him saying it in the manner he did, if this is a valid logical argument, it is valid in my statement.

Jesus did not need to use the term "Father" neither pray to the Father, if he was referencing God, which he himself is. The use of "Father" necessitates the existence of a separate entity, by your logic in placing hell in the center of the earth.

The bottom line Regret is that Hell is a literal place. Jesus Christ literally went there and freed those who had died in faith before the advent of Jesus into the world. Abraham's Bosom is a reference to the paradise side of Hades (Hell) that is where those who died in faith prior to Jesus becoming both a Man (He is actually the God-Man). But anyway that is where they went. So, Hell is indeed a place.

Only in your mind.

😆

I stated that it was a place. But, if one is not suffering or full of remorse, then the place he is in is not Hell, imo. Thus, the state of mind is inseparable from the place. If it is separated from the place, then Hell ceases to be Hell.

IMHO if you can just get past this place thing, you will be on the right mark. 😉

My personal opinion is that Biblical reference to some "place" may or may not be literal, I do not really have a stance as to that. But, regardless of whether or not there is a literal place, Hell is a place, it is the place you are in when you are in the state of mind that is a part of Hell. This doesn't necessitate any specific place, any place might do, I don't really know, don't believe that any scripture is conclusive on the subject.

I believe it can be anywhere and at any time. But then again, I'm not a Christian; I'm a Buddhist. 😄

If the state of mind is the important aspect of Hell, such is entirely within the realm of Christian belief, especially considering that references to Hell are derived from Sheol, which is also translated as death and the grave. References to hell are sometimes referencing death, and others referencing suffering and remorse. A thorough examination of the original and the translations is required to truly understand the meaning of the various verses, and such may be impossible due to lack of original material to definitively answer the question.

It is impossible for anyone to be in Hell and not suffer torment. This whole state of mind business is unscriptural. That is what hangs you up because you rely on your "opinion" of what Hell is and not on what Jesus said that it is.

"It is impossible for anyone to be in Hell and not suffer torment." Torment is only a state of mind.

WHAT DID JESUS SAY ABOUT HELL (HADES)?

Mark 9:39, 43-48

39 But
Jesus said…

43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched—

44 where ‘Their worm does not die
And the fire is not quenched.
45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched—

46 where ‘Their worm does not die
And the fire is not quenched.’

47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire—

48 where‘ Their worm does not die
And the fire is not quenched.’

Jesus talked about Hell so I am satisfied and convinced that it is a literal place of torment.
