The Punisher 2 Update

overall, it was pretty good. certainly not a masterpiece. I thought Jigsaw was a bit korny at times and didn't show an amazing performance.

The movie only made 1.6 million on Friday. That's not very good at all and rather dissappointing. The 2004 Punisher got off to a much better start.

I guess Punisher can't hack it on the big screen.

They should have made it a Crime Drama instead of a action flick with no plot. Tony Scott's Man on Fire has a great Punisher type feel and Man Apart was great also. They are both Crime Dramas and not action flicks.

So bottom line question: Is this a good comic book movie?

in terms of the bloodiness from the MAX comics, it's dead on!
In terms of a really good plot: not so much.

It just wasn't able to break through it's genre. Unfortunately, it's seems more like a typical action movie 🙁

I never saw it but I liked the Thomas Jane one.

They just didn't go deep enough. in TDK (i'm not comparing this movie to Batman in any way), they surprised the audience with little twists that kept the movie exciting and less predictable.

Unfortunately, this movie failed to do that 🙁
I loved the gore though..

I was asking the ones who DID see it, silly.

The early word is the movie only made 4 million dollars on opening weekend. That's very disturbing.

Overall, I've heard a ton of bad things about this movie. I didn't necessarily have high hopes for it, but it still sucks to see a character with potential fail, for the third time, on the big screen. Oh well...

I still believe Ray is the best Punisher, just everyone else failed. I am seeing it tonight.

Yep, a weak opening.
I think the nails are in the coffin for the Punisher Film franchise.

ive seen it. the plot isn't amazing. The gore is disgusting. a Good frank castle performance though.. I did have soem good qualities.

If you can stomach some disgusting shoot-outs, then you'll probably enjoy the movie.

Can someone just drive a Stake through the heart of this horrendous franchise once and for all? how many Punisher movies are going to take till they figure the Punisher's image of a gun shooting rebel was left behind when movies like Die Hard were introduce in the 80s?

Punisher worked in the 70s...in the comics!....the movies came out too late. Once the 80s and the 90s came in...it wasn't shocking anymore to see a guy blast away bad guys with machine guns.

No more Punisher movies.

*sigh*

I found the last Punisher movie very good. I find the current Punisher MAX Comics excellent. I am not sure what you are talking about..I also don't think that the Punisher is just a cheap shock character, to me the Punisher is certainly deeper than that.

Just saw it.

Like I figured, Ray is great as Frank and is better for the part than Jane. Wayne Knight would have been a great Micro if they allowed him to do more. West, cheese factor galore, really bad casting there. Salmon, just really bad acting and I never did liked him. The movie touched on his back ground for about 5 mins of the film, if that! They killed a really important character at the end that put me off. Yes, this is a brain dead....B rated....straight to video movie. The first 45 mins or so was cheese but the last part was kinda good IMO as the very simple plot folds out. If you can get past the cheese and lack of plot than its a ok Punisher movie.

Like look at Batman, for years what genre does this film franchise fit in? But two great men named Nolan and Bale made BDK into a Crime Drama and now its one of the best films EVER!!!

They should stop making Punisher a action film. It should be a Crime Drama. Time to watch A Man Apart and Man of fire to see a real punisher story.

Its still better than Catwoman, Elektra and Daredevil.

I think Thomas Jane looked a lot like Frank Castle, and I enjoyed Jane's role as Castle, this new movie was a good action flick that made me laugh at times, it was alright, not the best, but it gave what it promised. A movie with shit exploded and gun shooting. Yay.
