Because Superman admitted on panel that earth gravity take its toll on his powers and then every character and their grandmoma has light speed space flight (including rogue) but yet does not have the feats backing it up when it comes to combat.
I know DBZ character cant breath in space buuuuut we have Kid buu on another side of the Galaxy on the grand Ki planet and Goku and Vegeta on Supreme Ki planet and Kid Buu sensed them a Galaxy away and flew off and made it to Supreme Ki planet (which again is located on the other side of the Galaxy) in seconds but Goku still kept up with him speed wise.
Thanos never fought a herald like Superman so he isnt stomping him. Thanos cant even stomp Thor.

no he didn't. he said that he has to be careful with his powers while on earth. that's not the same thing.
