^Kirby's original intent for the New Gods was for them to be the replacements of Thor and Co in Asgard, only instead of being powered by magic and mysticism their power came from science and the power of the mind itself.

Edit: Do you consider Celestial technology to be magical/divine in any way? Because I'd say NG tech and Celestial tech is more or less on the same level.

celestials are based on the sumerian texts and various mexican myths, but they are explicitly depicted to be creatures of science, not divinity in the mythical sense (more like the science behind the myth)

Also even if Zeus himself cobbled together a shoe without using any powers the shoe would still be an ordinary shoe regardless of who made it. AFAWK Metron never did anything that a guy like Reed Richards couldn't do given the same knowledge and resources. So stop forging some false distinction between New God tech and other tech just because a hole was poked in your "you need magic to reach Asgard in a timely fashion" claim.

I mean you have to take into account that this machine broke into their realm to harness the energy.

And that's of course only if they detect it. If they don't, there's nothing they can do about it.
