Magus didn't really lose to the merged Eternity/Infinity, he was just surprised by them. Warlock's the one who beat Magus with the incomplete IG when Magus was shaken by the realization of Eternity and Infinity's relationship.

Do you have any proof of that? Because it sure looked to me like Eternity/Infinity defeated MAgus.
See when the Magus and Warlock are having a contest of wills for dominance of the Gauntlet, the Magus gets the upperhand when Warlock is distracted by the thought of reality's destruction...
Notice the phrase "Open your arms wide" by Magus?
Then after the Eternity/Infinity amalgam appears, MAGUS is distracted(as Warlock was earlier) and Warlock tells the Magus to "open his arms wide" while he's leaping towards his distracted counterpart...
And you don't see anything from any of them after that.
So even though it's not printed in black and white, the story certainly suggest that it was Warlock who bested the Magus.

I always thought it was infinity and Eternity. as a matter of fact, they would not have even attempted to jump in if they had no chance.

Seeing as how Warlock was about to lose if they HADN'T jumped in, I don't think their interference is an indication of their superiority. Warlock was the one making a move towards Magus, Eternity and Infinity were just standing there.
I have yet to see one feat performed by the IG within the marvel multiverse, that was multiversal. I seriously doubt the Ig wielder can beat the multi Eternity. So i'm thinking Thanos's only leverage in this fight is the Mind powers. But then again, GL's have tp resistance so what's stopping ION from having that on an infinite scale? Just saying. 😕

It says classic Ion. youknow, the one who was multiversal in power. who could literally do anything he wanted. far beyond what parrallax was shown to do.
feats stand tall here.

The spectre is multiversal and considers Ion a peer. Thanos never beat one multiversal being with the IG.

Yeah, I'm sure a MERGED ETERNITY/INFINITY was needed to distract Thanos... Yeah right.

ION can control Space, Time, Reality, Mind, and Power just as well as the IG can.But the IG also can do souls, so it has an edge in this fight.
IOn controls souls. check what Kilowog did with just his ring. And what Kyle as Ion did when he brought back his mother. I think Thanos wins due to the mind gem and his uber will.
