I just realized that some of the x-men's best stories have almost nothing to do with them being mutants.
Think about it. The Dark Phoniex Saga basically just showed the team as superheroes, not as mutants. This goes for most of Claremont and Byrne's work on the book.
Also, aside from the first arc, Astonishing X-men tends to shy away from the whole, mutant issue.
Is it just me or does anyone else think that the best approach to take at an xbook is to think of them more as superheroes and less as whiny people who feel sorry for themselves because they were born with superpowers
