Yes, and? It is still far safer than an officer drawing his sidearm or beating someone with a baton. Would you rather be:

a: tased

b: shot

c: beaten with a baton

I'd prolly give up after a few hits from the baton.
So that really.
And given the nature of the situation being discussed, would the Gun or the Baton be acceptable against someone who, although struggling possibly through fear as he couldn't see why he had been arrested by cops, rather than some form of campus security, was subdued...? Nope?
The taser neither, IMO.

That is your opinion, B. Do us all a favor and do not try and pass it off as fact.

Like what you did, in the post I replied to?

Tasers are of course used for police officer protection. That is a fact, regardless of how you want it to appear that it is just for the protection of the victim of the tasering.

without a taser, a cop has no choice but to draw a lethal weapon and threaten the suspect, who could continue to resist, forcing the cop to shoot them, beat them, etc;

Where's the logic there? By drawing the taser and using it, it keeps the suspect alive. How does this protect the cop?

"And" also, the fact that tasers kill so many, highlights totally that it isn't the safe method of restraint for the suspect's benefit that you say it is.

Remember when I sad non-lethal. So, yeah...must be embarrassing to have missed that.

So, slow one, you wouldn't say that the "cop has no choice but to draw a lethal weapon to threaten him" ... not to forget that he didn't do anything wrong, he didn't resist arrest or anything, he just didn't want to be escorted out...

no, I caught the non lethal part. Did you miss the part where I said that police have other non lethal means of subduing a suspect? and how the taser was the least lethal of them? Nice try. wanker

He didnt resist? are you blind? thats ALL he did. from the moment they tried to escort him out, he resisted.

he didnt do anything wrong? Disturbing the peace. questions?

things can escalate at the drop of a hat. The moment he backed away towards Kerry, throwing elbows at the cops, he should have been gang tackled and hog tied.

"Throwing elbows"... Hahahahaaaaa. Muay Thai warrior.

well, not really throwing elbows like a hockey player, but he like pushed away from them.

Exactly. Not not exactly worthy of the kind of struggle that you'd think a life-endangering tasering is worth, especially on someone that is subdued at time of said tasering.

No wander you work in a hotel, RJ.

What the hell? Why has this convo gone on this long?

Okay, the little shit should have gotten his ass tackled and cuffed the moment he resisted removal.

I think the taser was excessive, but far from police brutality. The video I posted from EBaum's was a perfect example of police brutality. (Though, from what I read, that guy getting beat down was a real big douche/jerk.)

Because certain members refuse to see the facts:

1) This guy wasn't violent
2) He was 1 (rather scrawny) guy vs. 4+ officers, one of which was 2-3 times his size (the bear-hug cop)
3) At no point were the officers in danger
4) He was subdued before the tasering

A) He is a jackass... this seems to be the main motivation for the "taser was justified" crowd. This is the one fact they seem to acknowledge, he's a c*nt, so he "deserved" it

That's debateable...as you can clearly see. One thing is for sure, if he was black, his ass would have been beat. IF he tried that in Tulsa where I come from, his ass would have been beat.

He didn't look scrawny, but all of those cops were more than enough for a guy twice his size.

Quoted for truth..or the new one people are saying now days...QFMFT. (Quoted for mother f**king truth.)

No, he resisted removal from the building and then arrest; I saw him struggling when they tried to cuff him. THAT is why they tased him, not because they wanted to prevent injury as RJ implies. (Holy shit...I have no idea if I got my punctuation right on that last sentence!)
