It seems the deal has officially been sealed...
------
From an interview with Nintendo Power in Volume 228:
NP: There was a rumor at one point about Ridley being playable. Was that ever a consideration?
Sakurai: I think that would probably be pretty impossible. [Laughs] If we had to put our best efforts into it, we may have been able to do it. But he might have been a little slow. Would that be all right? [Laughs]
NP: We're just glad he made it into the Subspace Emissary. You've talked previously about how Solid Snake ended up in the game, but how about Sonic? How did his inclusion come about?
Sakurai: At the time we announced Snake, we actually put together a survey for our users, asking which characters they would like to see in the game. And a huge amount of people said Sonic, especially in the United States.
------
A lot of people said Ridley too, especially in the United States 131...
So it would've been impossible, eh? Right. With Ridley look-alikes such as Charizard playable, we all know it would've been impossible. *insert sarcastic thing here*
Other than that, what got me is when he said "But he might have been a little slow. Would that be all right? [Laughs]".
Out of all the games I've seen Ridley in, he's anything but slow for the most part, but I guess it would have been all right (given that all villains in Smash Bros are relatively slow anyway).
Meh. I realize this is an old subject now, but Sakurai addressing the issue with Nintendo Power was just recent. So, yeah. Just thought I'd share it.
(I don't order Nintendo Power anymore by the way. It was from a friend's magazine.)
Suuuure you don't 😖hifty: 😛
But it sounds to me he's being a little cocky there, he would be slow hahahaha thats why he's not around, but then again you have to look at Bowser who is a real slow villain and the main one of his series (as is Ridley for Metroid) and he still made it...
But at least we have another Metroid game to look forward too.

I think someone is showing favoritism to other series, I mean honestly out of all the series Samus is the only Representative of Metroid in SSB, I still don't know how Olimar got in the game, really what a waste.
So enough about that.
Hmm. I wish there was some other kind of Ridley tribute on youtube for me to post. Guess I might make one myself sometime (if I become bored enough)... There would be new pics for me to post though if I already had an SD card. The sooner I get one, the better.

I will search around for more Ridley vids, who knows they may inspire you. 😛

BTW a little fact for you, we are the longest running game respect thread that is still active, heck we may be the longest game respect thread in KMC.
Still, I never dreamed this thread would progress this far 😄, but enough about that.
We can always find more vids or manga/fan art or even talk about what Ridleys role will be in the next game or even what it is now, we could also share views on what we think of Ridleys history and past as well as wonder what the next Metroid game will be like?
See alot more to talk about RP, and just to say when I played the first SSB all those years ago I never thought it would become a video game phenomenon, I knew it would be popular but never this big.

As for Ridley, when I first played Super Metroid (the first game I saw him in) several years ago, I never thought I'd end up liking him as a character/boss as much as I do now. I mean, when I first played Super Metroid, Ridley was "just another boss" to me. Nothing special or out of the ordinary, but now he's one of my favorite video game villains of all time (partly thanks to the impact the 3-D/Prime series had with him). That sure says something.
Same for me and Bowser back during the Nes/SNES years I never really saw him as anything special, now he is in my top 3 video game villains list, as for SSB as I said I never thought it would be popular as it has become, perhaps due to the fact I used to own and play SSB but never owned SSBM, so I only got to play it for a bit.

As for the part about Bowser, yeah. Same here. Him and Ridley both didn't seem that cool or appealing during the beginning (in the first games they were in), but now they've evolved far beyond what they were in their first games (both as characters, and as cunning villains). I mean, when I see Ridley in the NES Metroid now, he almost looks like Barney. 😂 Now he's a badass dragon that just keeps evolving into different, cooler forms (such as Meta and Omega Ridley).
And of course when you are younger you never really see the villain past beyond that of the bad guy who must be defeated to complete the game, and also back in the NES days we never had the technology to really branch out the personality's or history of the heroes and villains, of course in today's gaming world we can make Villains pure evil, tragic or complex.

Also, is my new sig kickass or what? 😄
I would have used an analogy depending on your reply post, but from it I don't really need to I guess it was just a way to round off that topic.
And yes your sig is really badass, I like it alot, Meta Ridley FTW; it has a nice combination of colors all blending into one as well as a nice lighting effect behind Ridley to really bring him out, and finally your text looks very nice really stands out but also at the same time blends in with your image, very good work there I'm done.

Even though I have GIMP, I'm an average sig maker at best. 😛 Haven't made anything around that caliber before, but with more practice (which I haven't had as much time for lately), I'll reach that level of sig making some day. 🙂 Anyhow...
