The Next Pokemon Game

Ah well, between megas and a new type and the update to 3d, I think it's more than fair for this Gen to be a bit smaller than the others.

It is a shame that the Fire starter is so bland though. The other two turned out well.

I don't know how I feel about the Dragon family this Gen though. Snails? It's a change from the usual I guess... I'll wait to see their stats. That quirky design with epic stats works, but making a snail dragon with bad stats after nerfing Dragon types just seems vindictive.

Its less than half the size of the other gens. 🙁

I like the ghost tree, the squid thing and the bat dragon. And obviously the bazooka crab.

Zygarde should have been a bug though. Bug type needs more love. Theres only one new bug pokemon this gen.

Bug types got plenty of loving last gen IMO, three of Alders Pokémon were bug types if memory serves, he was basically a bug champion. Which reminds me, god I hope I can get Volcarona in this game.

And I am really digging Barbaracle, but since I'm planning on grabbing Tyrantrum and don't want to double up on the rock, I am in a bit of a bind.

At first glance, Gardevoir's mega looks f**king terrible.

And I'm hoping for more than 69.

Mega Gardevoir looks like she's wearing a dress. A wedding kind of dress, in which case she's a chunk of the Pokemon fanbases's waifu, if the questionable material fans have made of her before is any indication...

I'm one of the few not really disappointed in the total amount of new Pokemon. With the total amount there are already (what, 600+ ?), and with gen 5 having not sold as much as Gamefreak hoped apparently, I guess they figured they had to do something a little different this time than just make 100+ more new critters.

If that was the motivation, then f**k those motherf**kers!

Who knows? Even if they have a short Gen 6 count RIGHT NOW, they can still follow up the series. Think about it. Black/White had a sequel, but nothing was really added to the experience. If they had/wanted to take that route this time, they would at least have a better excuse. After all, 3D models and new features are time consuming.

I like Mega Gardevoir, seems to continue the dancer theme at least. With its new 100 base speed I hope it's more viable, though the loss of Trace hurts.

I'm really curious about the apparent focus on special Normal this gen, and the complete lack of special Normal moves to go with it. Mega Gardevoir has Pixilate to change Normal moves to Fairy, and it's a special attacker with maybe one move to use it with. Aurorus has Refridgerate to change Normal to Ice, and it's also a special attacker with no moves to use it with. Finally, Heliolisk is Electric/Normal and again a special attacker.

Where are my special Normal moves? I don't want to put Hyper Beam on everything, and Tri Attack still seems to have no distribution. Why do these abilities exist if nothing can use them effectively?

Have we seen the new moves yet? If not they're likely to come. That or beam spam everything forever.

Mega Tyranitar and Aggron, latter looks like a tank/.

Aggron looks cool. But Mega Tyranitar is so disappointing especially since his normal form one of my favorite pokemon.

Ok. That's definitely a plus. My frustration is just with the design. It's a little too... "Antebellum" to me.

I'm wondering that myself. Then again, I've long since not been much of a fan of Normal-types.

I see your point. You're basically saying converting special Normal moves is redundant in comparison to just learning a move of the respective type.

I think these things are probably more for fringe people like myself. For example, what I have just learned is that anything that has Refrigerate just got itself an Ice type physical attack with increasing power based on happiness. Maybe not something for Gardevoir or Auroros. But Return is something damn near everything can learn.

Sucks that I probably won't be using a Fairy Type but if they had mixed one with a new water type I'd have gotten it.

Well I could use Marill since it becomes a fairy but I want to keep it mostly Kalos Pokemon. That's why I'm disappointed that there are only 69 it seems.

Yeah, pretty much. Both Pixilate and Refrigerate would be amazing on physical attackers because of Return and other physical moves. That's part of the problem, since we only know one Pokemon with each ability, and they're specially based with rather poor attack.

Can you imagine an Ice or Fairy type Extremespeed on a Pokemon with the stats to use it? Then there's Fake Out; it would wreck if it could get SE damage. Rapid Spin wouldn't be blocked by Ghosts. Body Slam and Double Edge could be interesting, too.

As of now, though, most special normal moves are pretty weak or don't have great extra effects.

EDIT: Actually, I wonder if I can put together something for doubles with Round. Have some superfast mon use Round, so it can immediately be followed up by a 120 BP Fairy type attack off of Gardevoir's massive Special Attack.
