Black Angel [Rp]

Izu looked startled. He had hoped that Shiki would have never figured out, but number 1 apparently gave him more than enough information.
"It was....a way to do damage control, Byrd instituted it.
Most of us have it. It's in your DNA, keeps your 'powers' at bay.
Avery doesn't have one, and you can see how well he does.
The twins have it I think, and I don't know if I do or not.
Mostly it's for the more dangerous experiments. As you can see, without the inhibitor some of us can be quite...dangerous....unless drugged." With this he walked over to Avery, checking his pulse and pupils.
"He looks fine, what did you do to him Shii? He had the valve almost all the way open."

"I was scared when she took me with her...
I thought she was going to wipe my memory and take me back to
Byrd. But she didn't. She actually gave me a choice, Izu."

Something was moving out in the hall, but Shiki couldn't distinguish
from all the information who it as. In his drug induced state,
however, he didn't really care. To Hell if it was Byrd, he didn't care
what she did to him anymore.

"She offered to 'reset' me again, or to let me be myself.
I guess you know which one I chose... But she didn't tell me
what she'd do to make it so I could be me... Then again, if she
had, I wouldn't have been willing to do it... The genetic inhibitor...
It would have prevented this... I can't control this..."

Izu held Shiki.
"Why did you let her do this to you Shii?" Izu leaned over and pulled out a syringe from a drawer.
"Shii, it's gonna hurt, but I'll heal it. I need you to keep your eyes closed and hold on to me. Got it?" Without giving Shiki time to respond the doctor rammed the needle into the base of Shiki's spine, up into his brain. As soon as he pulled the bloody syringe out he held his palm to the wound, healing it.
"This should help for a bit Shii. It'll essentially stop the neurotransmitters that involve your power from being able to carry out anything. Unfortunatly....the brain that empowers your legs wont work for a bit, until you get used to it, that is. If Avery would ever let me get near him with this I would use it on him too. Don't tell Byrd, this is still experimental. That's it, you are now normal....for a while." Izu helped Shiki up into a chair and arranged his legs.

The sharp pain shocked Shiki into opening his eyes
once more but upon realizing that nothing had happened to his companions,
he dared to keep them open. Just as Izu had said, he couldn't really
feel his legs, just a vague tingling sensation where they might be.

"Ow...
That hurt, Izu..."

And almost as an afterthought...

"Thanks..."

"What 'ave gots here? A 'ittle birdy spying on its friends?"

Rori had managed to sneak up behind Rose without detection
and now stood right behind him. Somehow he'd gotten out of
his cage. This beast... This monster who hungered for pain.

"No prob Shii. I'll wrestle you up a wheelchair soon, Mori can push you when he's sober. For now I want you to just rest. I can't give you this all the time, but I'm trying to work out a more permanent system. I'm thinking about a shunt, but almost reverse. So when you feel the need you can self medicate. I'll have to work on the whole not walking thing though."

"What do you want animal?" Rose turned around to face the beast who frightened even him. Rose closed the door behind him as to not disturb the rest of the group.
"Why arent you in your little cage Rori? Do I need to remind you of my little power?" Rose growled and bared his teeth at Rori. He had learned from his handbook on dangerous experiments that everyone got that he was supposed to establish dominance with Rori.

"Is that suppose ta scare me?"

Smiling in response to Rose's attempt at dominance, Rori's
own sharp teeth came into view. His tongue ran over his canines
before letting his lips meet again.

"Don't fret, just ate. The stupid keeper just forgot ta lock me
back up. It's been so long since I got out and about. Thought I
might have a look around again."

As if to emphasis his point, Rori knit his fingers together and
raised his hand above his head, yawning. But his yellow slit eyes
never left Rose. They kept staring as if daring the other to try.

I doubt you've forgotten mine, bird...

But Shiki was dozing lightly in the chair, worn out
from the day's events.

"Go.Away!" Rose growled again, fists clechned. He had no patience for anyone and Rori knew about his spying some how. He hoped that Rori wouldn't try and fight him again, because he knew he was no match for the beast. Strangely, to his rescue came Avery, who had come out to go back to his own room.
"Rori." Avery smiled. It wasn't a friendly smile, but more like acknowledging that Rori was an equal. With his IV and bandages he didn't want to start picking a fight.
"Run along bird, I'll deal with him." Avery motioned for Rose to go back to his room.
"Now Rori, what are you doing out of your cage? And going after the birds now? How...catlike. A tiny little housecat named Rori."

"Avery!"

Smiling again, Rori looked Avery over, noting not only the smell of
drugs but also the IV tube. His grin widened even further upon this discovery.

"Long time no see! It's a pity they let you roam when I can't, and
you're more dangerous than me. Eh... We still the same height?"

Nearing the other redhead as if to check his height, Rori's hand
flashed out and grabbed Avery's lower arm. Wrapping his other arm
about the pole of the IV cart, he laughed.

"Lookie here, I finally outgrew you! Shame you can't carry through
with your threat, what with your drug problem and all. But then again,
you wouldn't hurt your old buddy, would you?"

"L..leave it alone Rori! I don't have a drug problem!" Avery tried to get free of Rori's grasp. Realizing his IV could come out, he switched to verbal sparring.
"I don't need my powers to beat you." Avery smiled in challenge.
"Height doesn't matter, I'm just plain stronger. You've been locked up in a cage while I've been out exercising. You'd be surprised how much more fit I was then last time we saw eachother, old buddy." Avery didn't like most of the residents on his floor but he could stand Rori.
With Rori he could actually be more like himself. They were always shooting back witting remarks at eachother. He only wished he could still have the bracelet on, even if it hurt, so he could rough house with Rori.

Barking with laughter, Rori release hold on both
the stand and Avery's arm. Oh how he miss the company of others.
The B.A. rarely left him out of the room they called his dorm
and when he was, he was forced to wear a collar. A dog, that's what
he was treated like. A goddamn dog who had to be controlled.

But he wasn't.

He was like Avery, a child of the streets, an orphan. And even
before he'd gain his power, it had been bred into him the instinct
for survival, the desire to live.

"Heh, you were always the brawns, Avvie! But muscle can't win
against brains. If I remember correctly, I always beat you at chess!"

"You're such an animal Rori," Avery chuckled, "You beat me at everything, because you cheated."
Avery liked being in the company of his oldest friend. He had known Rori from before BA, they had even applied that day. He wondered what Rori would be like if he didn't convince him to come with, to sign up for BA.
He looked down at his IV and pulled it out, wincing in pain. The medication was begginig to make him nausiated and he hoped he could control his temper. Instead of playin it safe however Avery tackled Rori, pining him to the ground.
"Pinned ya!" He growled, trying to incite Rori to play.

"You can't cheat at chess, idiot! You
just didn't understand how to play!"

He might now be in the best of shape, but his mimicry came in
handy for situations such as this. Any animal he touched, he could
mimic their best attributes. And after years of tests, the B.A. had
turned him into a walking zoo.

Without any warning, Rori had flipped his friend over. Holding one of
Avery's hands behind his back, Rori knelt down so that his feral
face was grinning right next to Avery's.

"The key to the game was knowing what move to make, when.
Is it safe for you to be ripping that out of your arm?
Ain't it gonna kill us all?"

He still wondered what life might be have been like had he not
let Avery talk him into signing up... Had he not followed Avery
like a lost puppy. If he hadn't, he might be dead, then again he
might not. But one thing was certain, if he hadn't followed his
friend, he definitely wouldn't be the freak be had turned out to be.

Avery grinned back and laughed, pushing Rori off and pinning him again. He whispered right in his ear "Thats the fun part, not knowing if I'm gonna. But....I can't feel my plague, so I think we're safe. And...you do too cheat at chess! You always steal my rook."
Avery chuckled, even though they had both been turned in to freaks, at least they had eachother.
"What are you now? Some bunny? I'm not into that. Come on, get up." Avery extended a hand, knowing he would most likely be pulled down to play again.

"Last time I touched a rabbit was when we rescued
one from the market, Avvie. And you're really not my type."

Grasping the offered hand, Rori pulled himself up and dusted himself
off. He knew he was suppose to be working, but he couldn't pass up
the chance to fool around. Solitary confinement was a pain, and
it wasn't like he really needed to be locked up. For the most part,
he could behave himself and then there was always the collar.

"It's called capturing, oh foolish one. And it's a war game, you're
suppose to capture the other team. And if you feel the plague,
just don't touch the bird. I might get sick, but you can't kill me."

"Aha....so you do want me to touch you?" Avery raised an eyebrow and tickled him.
"You're such a perv!" Avery shook his head, then pushed his blood coloured hair back, shoving it into a hair tie.
"Why'd they let you out? Not just to let you have a romp with me I imagine. What's Byrd got you doin?" Avery tussled Rori's hair and then headed for the cafeteria. He was hungry and he knew he wouldn't be getting any sleep for a while, what with all noise of Shiki and company.
"We should let the scooby squad go sniff around for a while. Why were you talking to Rose, by the way? He seemed pretty upset."

"Eh? You're one to talk about being perverted."

Rubbing his neck, he could feel a tingling sensation run through the
collar. Tsk, tsk, someone was getting impatient. You'd think they'd
give him sometime to chill. Oh well. He'd ignore them for now. If
Isaac was truly so important they'd send Byrd's dog or #465 after
him. He did wonder about Rose, though. The bird was acting mighty strange.

"Suppose to find the Invisible Man. Don't know why they want
me to, the guy made it sound urgent. You'd think they'd have
pyscho-girl or the dog track him if they want him so bad. Not that
I'm complaining. I like being out - even caught a little bird spying."

"You've just been locked up too long. What do you mean 'bout the bird?
Rose is just.....odd. They both are, share the same room and all.
Quite odd.
You're looking for Isaac? Havn't seen him for a while...then again I don't go hunting around for him." Avery smiled at Rori.
"You've changed Rori, you're....a fine bloke!" Avery blew him a kiss, laughing then ran halfway down the hall before turning around to blow a rasberry at him.
"Come on, you can sniff out your prey at the same time. I'm hungry!"
Avery took comfort in the knowledge that he couldn't kill his friend, though he knew that Rori could easily rip open his throat.
Luckily for Avery, his blood was toxic and would give Rori 'a right good headache' as Avery described it.

"'aving fun, mockin' me, ya bloody pervert?"

Damn... He had been working so hard not to sound like the
illiterate street urchin he had been. And he'd improved, able
to eliminate most of its slang and accents of the dialect from his
speech. But every once in awhile something slipped through.

"'ey, I guess I can come along with. Ain't not like Issac's going
to run away, or nothing. And I've got a pager if they need me."

He laughed halfheartedly as he ran a hand through his short, red
spikes and tapped the chain that encircled his neck. Besides,
he could feel hunger gnawing at his stomach again. It was a pain
having a metabolism as fast as his...

"There's the accent I know and love! Hey! I'm not a perv! You are! You really shouldn't go trying to hide it or some such nonsense. You're starting to sound like everyone else at BA, boring."
Avery smiled then swiped his hand over the keycard reader.
That was one of the benefits of BA, the nanotechnology that all the experiments had in them enabled them to not need keycards.
"Don't go taking just meat Rori, it's not healthy.
You really should get a more varied meal, like mine."
With this Avery grabbed a plate of salad and a drink.
"Then again I guess you're part animal, so you can always eat grass when you feel you need it, like cats do.
But then......ugh...." Avery visably shuddered.
"Worst.Visual.Ever. Please tell me you don't use a giant litter box...
that would just be....eww. Yea...not too hungry anymore." Avery poked at his salad before grabbing some meat from passerby, who didn't want to pick a fight with 'the plague', especially when he was with Rori.
