In Evo I saw a couple of pad warriors. Including a half decent Viper.
---
So got the game this morning and been using Juri online. Trying to find strategies and stuff with her. I usually win with some trickyness unless I'm facing someone who is using their main from the previous game. In which case I pull off an impressive second round and then lose in the final round because their strategy is better/they have more xp with their char.
Been raping my friends with Ryu/Juri/Ken. My Ryu's zoning is too solid for them, Ken's rushdown and semi-zone game is half decent if I say so myself and with Juri I'm abusing moves they don't know how to punish yet. One of them uses Ibuki and I'm thinking that maybe Juri's ExCounter thing can be useful to nail her whenever she throws an air kunai at me. Since Juri can inmediately dash up and do her ex dive kick into ultra while Ibuki is airborne. If that is successful Ibukis better not throw that shit at least once or else....heh. I like the difference in points. Makes it obvious when someone is trying out a new char.
Anyways the online is much much better. Greatg job capcom.
I seriously underestimated the difficulty of switchin' to a stick. I was at a tourney today at Gamestop and did pretty terrible. I got my ass kicked up and down on Live today over a friends house, too. I was told that even though I was practicing, I wasn't doin' it enough. I would only play the game for like an hour and 45min every 2 days. The hard part is just movin' the stick and hittin' the buttons on time. I also seem to ALWAYS mash the wrong buttons, I lost so many close matches today just because of that. Then what's even more crazy is, I haven't played wit the Pad in some time and now I suck wit that too, the pad just feels so awkward and I can't get out of treatin' it like an analog stick. I guess I'm gonna try and switch back and forth and do the best I can. I just wish I had more time to really practice. But at the end of the day, I just keep remindin myself that it's just a game. Get stomped, do the stompin', it doesn't mater, just have fun. I just don't like loosin' to "tourneyfags", for a lack of better words. It just seems like I take things seriously when my opponents do.
Long post...
I'm okay with J-Stick and Pad now, it's a given, when you don't spend countless hours per day practicing and playing, you lose that edge that put you where you were at before.
I can see things happening, but alot of times, I simply can't execute or react fast enough to do so. My fingers back in the early-mid 90's were ridiculous, I could play at the arcade in SFII, and tap Chunli's Fierce Lightning Kick with my Pinky finger! It was fun to show that off to other people who thought it was crazy to be able to tap it with the pinky, haha. Even on the home console then, I could tap those with any of my fingers, and the craziest thing was, I had my FK on my shoulder button.
My fingers back then due to countless times of playing SFII, I basically just kept developing it up and up. However, today, it's just not simply the same anymore, I no longer can do that (I can still do it with my index finger obviously, but with my pinky, not even close anymore), and more importantly, I no longer can execute or react the same way.
For example, now, when I see something happen, in which mentally I know I can punish...I simply can't do it on call. Where as back then, it was there right from the start, and you have no fear of anything. I'm just like Jeff when he faced Daigo, there was alot of times Jeff could have gone for a massive combo or so on a dizzy or mistake, however he opted for 100% sure damage instead because he didn't fully have confidence in his execution anymore.
That's the same with me today, if I get a dizzy or get someone on a mistake, I'll go for the more basic and even effective way of getting damage, although it may not be best one for that situation, due to my lack of confidence within my execution.
Lastly, on SSF:IV, playing Ryu in that game against the majority of the other characters in it. I am so vouching for Ryu, the dude is shaping up to be #1 or #2 on the Tier Listing. There is really nothing that has been truly shafted from him, only two things that I can say were not there...Hadouken, Hadouken cancel into Ultra, and trade shot Shoryuken into Ultra.
The thing that I'm actually "amazed" at is that in SSF:IV, surprisingly, at least from the 2 hours of play I got, there seems to be even more reliance upon zoning and footsies then even within SF:IV. So from my point of view, at least up to this point, I feel that SSF:IV plays even more to Ryu's advantage then in SF:IV, simply due to the tone down of damage and more reliance upon the two key factors that makes Ryu so good within the first place.
I've also played Dudley, he looks great, but I'm also having some doubts on him being Top-3, and another character that looks strong imo is Cody...the dude is pretty wicked. Sagat got toned down...but, I say this, play against peeps who know how to zone with Sagat...the match ups haven't changed drastically at all, and i see no way to how Sagat will dip a whole lot here. He's still a monster when you play him correctly, and his Ultra even though toned still hurts when it lands.
Zangief to me feels the most shafted imo out of the Top-6, his Lariat in SF:IV was to me, never "abusive" and only so up against people who didn't know how to defend or fight up against it. However now, it feels watered down due to not being able to hit someone low to the ground on start up or whatever. His Ultra not doing as much damage is boggling too, I felt it should have stayed relatively the same if not modified at all. Never, understood why Gief got such a shaft, because he didn't do well up against half of the best characters in SF:IV within the first place anyhow.
Yes, finally played Guile, and my brother who has used Guile as his main since WW is slightly content on SSF:IV. He feels that Guile has improved because everyone else is nerfed, while he stayed relatively the same with some improvements. Sonic Hurricane is definitely quite beastly up against fireball characters...all I know is, I got hit once with it, and whenever I see the meter at full and I'm just slightly outside of sweep distance, I hesitate to throw Hadoukens, lol.
Still, Ryu has the advantage in this match up, I simply out pace him, and force Guile to me all day. Again, I feel without a shadow of a doubt, that had they of given Guile the CE/HF pokes of old, he'd straight up make it 5-5 or possibly even with Guile's favor against Ryu in SSF:IV. The simple matter is this...Ryu's recovery on his Hadouken is nowhere near as good as his SFII counterpart.
So had Guile of received longer range on his pokes, he would have a pretty good field day stomping on Ryu. Imo, played at the highest point, it's pretty close to a 5-5 with a slight advantage to Ryu. I played Sim only sparringly, however he looks really good in SSF:IV, from what I gathered, he didn't receive any damage nerfs, so it's relatively the same, and with the tone downs of everyone else, I can only see this benefiting him. Yeah, so what, I only played like 4 sets with him, but I believe within the right hands, he can potentially be better then he was in SF:IV.
Lastly, playing up against Ken, I can tell without question, he's better then his SF:IV counterpart and he's closed the gap between him and Ryu, but still not as good overall in contrast by a strong margin. Match will still be 6-4 in favor of Ryu, however zoning and footsies will play an even more vital role now within that match up, and within all matches involving Ryu.
Ryu overall is less dumb, although still stupid to use, but he requires more effort from the player, so I'm in the belief that you will not see all of the Ryu nation players jumping boat to him. On another note, it was hilarious to see 23904823094820942380 people online picking Guile to play against my cousin, it made me lol. It seems anytime a top player plays a character and makes them look good, you'll see a huge surge afterward.
SSF:IV overall feels more balanced thus far to me, and yes, Ultra's are still stupid, although footsies and zoning seem to be more important...Ultra's feel even more important now due to the weaker overall damage. So up to this point, I like SSF:IV more so then SF:IV, however that may change down the road, you just don't know.
it's definetely worth buying if you've never owned "sf4". It's got more and it costs less. but if you have "sf4" and you don't play competitively but just for fun and you really don't care about the bells and whistles that come along with this new update, wait for the price to go down even further in a couple of months.

I got the collectors edition last year and never bother with the fight stick. Would you recommend?
Characters being modified tweaked to be more balanced then even the already very balanced SF:IV.
New Stages, New Music, and even new custom costumes etc, etc for the entire cast.
New Characters not seen in SF:IV...Dudley, T. Hawk, Dee Jay, Adon, Guy, Cody, Makoto, Ibuki, and two entirely new characters in Juri, and Hakan (can't remember off the top of my if I'm missing anyone else).
This is definitely worth buying if your looking to just have some fun in a fighting game. It's well, well worth the $40 that it's tagged for, with all of the new customs, items, stages, characters, everything put together, this game should really run for as much as an original newly priced game.
Believe me it is absolutely worth it.

My fingers are the same way, I know what to do and how to do it. I just can't react fast enough. I'm so glad they made Seth harder, on Hardest he kicks my ass alot wit characters I'm not really good wit. Ryu, Ken, Sagat, Akuma, Dan and....Dudley will phuck'im up every time tho.
On a scale of 1-10, I woulda gave Seth a 3, but cuz of his English voice actor (who is superb) and his new stage and the super hot track that plays durin' the match (THE BEST boss song I've heard in years), he gets a 6 now. Man, everything about his new stage EPIC! Capcom showed their ass when they redid his stage.

anyways... I'm still pokin around the character list.. trying to play people I havent before to see if I like them
atm I'm completely digging Juri and Hakan.. and I thought I wouldnt like Juri.. but she's completely bad ass, and so is her theme.. alot of the new music is damn awesome
have I mentioned ibuki is broken as hell?.. chick can friggin jump cancel into her super (and her super hits about as hard as a damn ultra), combo into her ultra, flying step kick into super.. slide across the damn stage (non-ex) neck breaker.. I think the only thing more ridiculous than this is dudley

No, I main characters I like. You know damn well I ALWAYS main Ken, Sagat, Akuma. No matter what game it is.
For further readin', only tourneyfags who take the game too seriously call people scrubs, and mean it o'course. If Brunzwick Zone gets SSFIV, I'm gonna be there every phuckin' day. Especially if R.Mika, Lento, and Elena are gonna be in it.

T.Hawk, Ryu and STILL Sagat and of all people, GUILE!!! (his Sonic Booms are faster than Tigers and his normals have been crazy buffed)are the ones everybody should be worried about. Balrog surprisingly murders Dudley and Ibuki's stamina is gei x10.
Well.. any way you cut it... I dont think anyone cept dudley has such easy ways into super / ultra
and heres a sample of the annoying auto-correction system
I jump holding forward and she still goes backwards

Yeah. Guile is VERY good, now. He can truly hold his own now, without it Bing such an uphill battle. I am really proud of the team 4 doing so well. The fact that people had so much doubt about them and Guile makes me feel all the more better. It's still 2 early 2 make any solid judgments but he just looks like he's improved a bunch. It almost makes me want 2 by a current gen conslole.......again.
I read U got banned from Live! LMAO!!!!! Silly rabbit, moded Xboxs R 4 kids! What were U doing on Live anyway, I thought U were "disgusted" with the state of online gaming?
Okay, so I've played SF:IV on four different occasions now with the last two occasions I was clocking in nearly 10+ hours each.
Guile is okay still imo only, not Top-Tier, but strong enough to compete now in contrast to his SF:IV counterpart. The timer for SB feeling more like his old counterpart helps him out more so now in situations.
I still however don't ride on the Guile is so much better now mentality, and when I "tried" online a few times (Hate it, and barely got to try it, due to the fact that I'm playing with a bunch of OG peeps who also want to play as well, so we barely went online, like possibly 30 mins worth if even that long, rofl), I noticed that playing against other shoto's, nearly 99.9% of them are impatient and don't try to capitalize more on their range and footsie advantage when I'm using Guile. If they at least used that more effectively, I wouldn't be able to SB>>Zone dominate as cleanly. He's definitely improved, but again, I'm not a believer that he's "so much" better. The Hype for SSF:IV Guile to me personally feels alot like HD:Remix Guile's hype.
Some of the people who've cried foul on Ryu mod's w/ Trade Shoryuken's makes me LoL. Seriously, so during an AA you completely depended upon Trade Shoryuken into Ultra? That's completely terrible, and imo, the 2-Hit Shoryuken only helped Ryu out more so then anything else. A one situation move that you would build your strategy upon? I cannot stand some of the Ryu players today when they need to rely upon stupid gimmicks like this. I'm saying this again, zoning and footsies are even more powerful in SSF:IV then it was in SF:IV, something Ryu excels at in SSF:IV.
SSF:IV is pretty fun, I've been wrecking my OG SF crew with Ryu up to this point, even up against the new hot heads like Dudley, Cody etc, I have found no match ups at least at this moment in which I feel Ryu has a disadvantage at. This game really feels to favor Ryu more so then SF:IV although he had slightly stronger options in OG IV. Shin-Shoryuken makes me LoL on how much priority it has, it basically and practically beats out everything (At least what I've thrown it up against thus far), and when you have that Ultra up, it completely 100% changes an opponent's mentality of play.
Much like Denjin-Hadouken in 3s, it puts that much fear into your opponents into not wanting to get hit, and the smart players will almost not even try to jump in on your anymore. Although I feel Metsu-Hadouken is waaaayyy more flexible, versatile and a much superior Ultra. ShinShoryuken has way more rape and fear factor, due to how it makes opponents second guess what they'll try to do to you.
Maybe later, when I'm not bored and lazy, I'll post up some of the things that I've been doing with SSF:IV Ryu up against the new characters. Lastly, I'm calling it now...Juri is my new Hot Fun character, my goodness, I absolutely enjoy how she plays.
