I think I might be actually getting quite good with Ryu. I air middle punched some dude and when he was falling I Ultra'd him. LoL The dude inmediately quit. Some other dude who was quite menacing with Abel beat me 3 out of 4 times, but all the matches were close. I had difficulty handling his dashing forward strikes followed by the mixed grapples. I don't know...I guess it was just his style, but that was the real thing that ruined me. Anyone got tips to handle it? Anyways he decided to pick Ryu to spite me. I ended up schooling him hard, and after he left he sent me a message complimenting my Ryu. It felt...nice.

This game is worthy every penny. However if you are aiming to compete online you will have to dedicate time. SFer has never been a pickup and compete game. Sure you can spam special moves and do basic tactics, but if you truly want to compete you will have to devote time to master your characters. Its still good if all you want to do is have fun. The graphics are great and stylish, not to mention the animations are priceless--especially the look on your opponent's face when you just performed an ultra and are about to rape them. OST is ok with nice remakes of old school classics like Ryu's theme. The gameplay is solid with a nice throwback to SF2--which makes it easier for newcomers and those who haven't played VGs since SF2. It has colorful roster of characters to boot.

BTW has anyone completed Ryu's hard trials? I'm currently stuck in the 2nd trial because the stupid crouching heavy punch seems to combo/connect when it FKN wants to. I can do everything else besides get that FKN punch to work consistently. Does anyone have tips? I know most of the hard trial combos are pointless, but I want the character icons you get when you complete those trials.

Just block the first hit.. the normal string which is
QCF + P into Forward + P , Forward + P are all highs (not an overhead)
they combo.. so if the first hit connects you get hit with the rest basically
the variation string, which is QCF + P , Forward + K , Forward + K..
are low after the inititial attack, and is waaaay to slow.. and can be blocked indefinitely, and does not combo
so basically variation 1 : high high high
varation 2 : high low low (at least I think the ending K "grab" is low)
sure you can mix them up.. but the K's are really really slow
EX QCF + P has armor properties.. so careful when trying to trade with it
