How would Clark stand up to Norrin? Couldn't the Surfer just surround him with kryptonite, pull out all of his yellow solar energy, fill him with red, go back in time and destroy the birthing matrix carrying him, or just phase him from existence? This seems a bit one sided given the abilities the power cosmic give SS.

Do you people know something I don't? SS can use the PC to create matter, manipulate any energies, time travel, or erase matter, so why couldn't he do it here?

Because the writers wanted him to lose there, and Thanos and Thor are also high end energy and/or magic manipulators with no obvious weaknesses to exploit like Superman.

Niether Thor nor Thanos are as mobile and fast as Superman. Not That I think Surfer Loses, but he sure as hell doesn't take an over whelming majority. Superman is as powerful as the surfer. just less versatile with the very weaknesses that just happen to be surfer's specialty. Take Superman's weaknesses away and Surfer would be up shit creek.

They're comparable in speed and durability and Surfer has a higher power output and the versatility advantage, all Supes has going for him is strength and Surfer can get can get close enough in that department to keep from getting overwhelmed long enough to put some distance between the two and he's got the ranged advantage.
