All he's doing it imbuing objects with red sun radiation. That's a pretty easy task for a matter manipulator. Combine it with a wide dispursement radiation blast and radiating his own body with red sunlight and....Superman can't come near him. He's surrounded by the stuff. Absolutely no way Superman takes this.
