Superman vs Silver surfer

Why does Surfer need to transmute organic matter? He could just encase Superman in stone and have the inside of the stone emit kryptonite radiation.

Yes Superman may be able to break out, but that sure would weaken him.

Yes, he can't fly without it, its for locomotion, but the point is moot. Like Thor's hammer, it's completely under his control. The Runner once snatched his board away, and it zipped right back to him; or he could just reduce it to molecules and remake it under him as he wished. Anyway, Superman can't take what he can't touch; Surfer is 10,000 mph in earth atmosphere alone. Suck the sunlight from Superman's cells, and its over.
Superman is truly too easy for the Surfer; it'll take a Green Lantern or Firestorm to give him trouble.

actually surfer can fly without his board but he would have to use his own energy to do this

Silver surfer is a cosmos wandering cosmic. Superman is an earth based hero.

I think that the power level difference can make Surfer a good fight for supes. 😉

yes there is a lot of variance in power but then again, surfer has done far more impressive factual things than supes,

Marvel is better only by ones opinion. There are many who think DC is better. Does Marvel sell more comics? Yes, thanks to the likes of Wolverine and Spiderman. Who are more popular these days than Superman and Batman.

Has Marvel always been the top seller? Nope.
