Surfer's leagues above Superman in terms of speed.
not sure if he is weaker than Superman physically. even if he is, it's a moot point as Surfer can amp himself up to whatever level he requires.
I don't think Surfer has any sort of "magic", but the Power Cosmic is phenomenally versatile and devastating so, yes to all intents and purposes it might as well be magic.

The Surfer has superior durability and speed. Superman's strength and battle prowess are what even up the fight.
