Glad it shows some. The full context of how things got as they are is complex only because so many lies have been told in between;however, going into detail is only going to piss people off if you can't get them to understand you are not showing favoritism or being bias.It starts with how we are taught history and this understood idea of Eurocentrism. To this day, a bunch of people still think the first time people sailed to the Americas (North and South) was in the 1400s although Africans and Asians did it waaaaaaaaaaaay (we are talking B.C.; historians agree) before then.
It is not something I fault white people for, but it is clear that "experts" in the field of history have no real influence on what is taught in grade school. Why is that? Hell if I know, but lies are being told that skew the entire picture of human history.
*This is similar to the "two truths" topic in the philosophy forum. "History" > "his-story" kind of stuff
This makes for a very confused public. Most people who are arguing anything don't know what the hell it is they are talking about and just have any opinion that is favored towards their own race. The people who know factually stuff are annoyed because they can't make a point without it seeming overtly racist (because while it is fact, it seems bias because it is not taught to people so it seems like fiction).
The chit is simple but people are complicated.
See, I knew there was a reason that I liked you.
Now we can get away from the white/black and talk about the System VS. everybody.
Our History isn't right
Our Math isn't right
Our Science isn't right
They teach us the very basics. Enough to be functioning Automatons.
All in all, I think White folk (Nowadays) were left holding the bag.
They don't want to go to jail, but they got caught with the money.
How many times have you heard the story of the kid who was just "Holding it" for another kid?

lol are you serious? Being personable is the opposite of being aggressive. He had a seemingly delightful attitude. He wasn't shoving the question down their throats. He was being wacky, as i said.

I'd say he is being serious.
The question itself is aggressive and people were probably taken back at first to be asked a question like that.

boo hoo so i forgot to cite a wiki article. My point was not to pass it of as my own stuff because it's still the same true message. It's just my definition of "White guilt" would've been deemed racist by you all i'm sick of that lie.
I am not a racist? I like White people. I just want to know how many like me.

I don't give a damn about what white people a few hundred years ago did.
This is why we have a problem.
If you don't care about what your people did a Hundred years ago, and I do,
There is going to be conflict.
However, pointing out Historical references and facts does not make some one a racist.

Just stop. After that Wiki shit, anything you say is invalid by default.

Nice analogy. I won't steal it though 😆 . It is an accurate way to depict what is going on now. I hold no grudge against white people at all; they did not do it as individuals so why be mad at them?
The lies seem to just teach us that think just "are" rather than have us consider how they got that way.
Same with the images: Truth of the matter is that there are more poor white people than any other people in the U.S. Would I ever believe that without federal stats? Hell no, but it is the truth. Sadly, poor white people seem to be mistakenly extinct; societal images say that hardly none exist.
Funny it is.
But we are way off topic and will probably not address this issue.

But claiming that I feel guilty is extremely innacurate. I feel absolutely no guilt for being white or even for being middle class.
Obviously the system underwhich I live is messed up but I honestly don't feel guilt for benifiting. I also don't smile when I see homeless people.
The system has problems and I don't think anyone denies that. What does irk me is the tendency of people to identify the system and white people. To paraphrase the Grapes of Wrath "men created the monster and now they have no choice but the obey it".

It's a serious question but he wasn't being as uptight about as the interveees were. Like he'd run in slow mo or skip over to people and say "excuse me, hi" and asked the question. He was just a regular college kid with an "ibdm" t-shirt, asking the question. And how is that question aggresive. It's not aggresive sounding to me. I wouldn't have been taken aback if he asked me that.

ive never seen someone so lazily paraphrase (take out a couple of words from the copy/paste) a wiki article and try to pass it off as their own words. this is beyond sad.now watch him dance and try desperately to flood the thread to page 64.
Besides adding "which itself", it was pure copy and pasting... Notice how he did decide to leave out the very last sentence of the paragraph in his plagiary?
"The term is often used with regard to the feelings of White Americans regarding the history of African Americans and Native Americans."
My guess, it's his racist desires to not just blame and hate "White Americans", but to include all "White people" globally in his hatred.

I have no problem talking about racism. Ask me a question and if I know the answer I'll answer it. Don't get too technical tho I'm not a college guy.
I'll ask you two questions.
Should people be paid for work?
In the event of death should his family receive his last check for hours worked?

I already said it. He was basically asking "how do you about racism?".
And they said what? "How dare you call me racist", "Back off"?
So far all you've told me is that the guy was being personable (technically an opinion) and asking them vaguely defined questions about racism to which the responded defensively (also an opinion).

I don't think his point is to say you should feel guilty. Should you care? Yes, because it affects the things you do today no matter who race you are.
People tend to identify "the system" with "white people." A fallacy since all white people did not contribute to it, but also has some validity since the world and it's paradigm is clearly dominated by people of European origin.
I do not judge all white people. I see the origin of how the present got how it is. It does not mean white people should feel guilty. Does not mean minorities should feel entitled. Everyone is getting screwed, but there is no honesty among us to just talk about WTF actually happened.
The majority of people (as an entire population) have a minority of power cause they continue to bicker over dumb chit. Kinda ironic. It's nothing but the Art of War and Machiavelli on a massive scale.

Dance all you like... You took the time to inject 3-4 of your own words to the paragraph, but you couldn't take the time to either add quotes or cite the article?
OK found it.

I couldn't of said it better myself, 2damncloud. Way to go.About a month ago I remember watching a documentary on racism where this wacky young black guy, a film major, was was going around his one friend with camcorder around his University asking Whites "how they felt about racism". Like that was the topic for some project he was talking about doing for his communications class. Anyway most of the Whites didn't even wanna talk about it. Or some smiled offensively, then nodded "no" and walked away. Some got smartassed with him. One White guy looked like he wanted to fight the interviewer, lol. There was this one White dude, a jock apparently, that didn't even answer the question irrelevantly. He said said something like "I dunno, I have Black friends." Then when the dude said that's not what i asked. The White guy smiled and blushed, said w/e and walked away. It was crazy. But not all Whites were nervous/defensive/uncomfortable in the interview. Out of like 10 that he interviewed like 2 cooperated, seemingly, but i bet they would've rather have been somewhere else, I'll tell you that.
It's like, why the defensiveness. You clearly see it on here too. Not one White person on this thread likes talking about racism because of exactly what you said in you statement there.
How can you smile offensively? Jocks are hardly a good example for anything but jocks.
The way these things are run most of the cooperative people get edited out (more often in comdey interviews though).
10 college students is also not a representative sample.
