True, I never said he outright beat Spider-man, but he was strength wise pretty much Spider-man's equal. I don't think he was fast as, agile as or "skilled" as Spider-man. Which gave Spider-man quite the advantage.

"a death in the family" was a pretty good storyline, when Harry finally died and everything. Norman messed up Peter pretty bad then, almost making Flash kill himself and stuff.
