God of War III

Now that Artemis's blade has been mentioned, where was she in the Great War? She was supposed to slay a Titan with it.

Uh-oh, a plot hole. Maybe they'll show her in a flashback of the Great War in GoW3 (assuming there is one).

The flashback was only ever made to show what happened to Atlas and the creation of the blade. Ignoring one of presumably many simultaneous battles isn't a plot hole. It's like saying the supposed beef between Perses and Helios is a plot hole because it didn't show them fighting during Atlas' flashback.

For the record, it's also supposedley been said by Stig that Kratos loses the Blade of Olympus at the start of the story, but eventually reclaims it at some point later on, but not necessarily the end. My guess, as the final of the four weapons. If true, then that leaves one unknown weapon as of now.

They didn't show every single god or titan in the flashback. Heck, they didn't show Gaia during Atlas' flashback, and yet, we see her when Kratos goes back in time to the Great War.

If so, Zeus will take it from him, or he'll get one of the gods or his servants to do so (somehow). He's the true wielder of the Blade anyway. Should Kratos reclaim it during the middle sections of the game, it would mean that a Titan, most likely Gaia, would be the final boss of the game.

"Since the gods are angry with Kratos, he now draws his magic powers from a supernatural source."

So wait, couldn't they have just stripped him from the beginning? And what is this "source"?

And, not only that, but does anything thinks that we fill face Gaia?

@Tsurugi06: Unless it was gameplay, it was said that Kratos had the BoC when he was fighting Zeus. Now, how will he kill Zeus without the BoO?

Then you'd know the BoO is not in the demo because it's a demo, or it simply isn't in the game, though that would be more than retarded on the Devs' part. Or why Kratos starts on Olympus instead of the back of Gaia, though that is more to do with the intro point discussed earlier.

So I wonder when we kill Hermes?

Maybe she was "free" at that time (if you know what I mean)? Unless Kratos didn't bring back Cronos, it should also be another plot-hole, because how is Cronos chained up again?

During the events after the demo most likely. Or even before. Who knows. The demo and the trailer are not the final product.

Kratos gets the Titans out of the War just as Zeus uses the BoO. So Gaia was present up until Zeus used the BoO in Atlas' flashback.
As for Cronos, I don't get the question.

Hmm, good point. Unless she was never bound in the first place.

Okay, in God of War, Cronos was still chained up, right (I mean the "Fate of the Titan" video)? So unless - and might I add, he would probably be weakened - he never transported Cronos to the future, how could he go to being chained, unchained, and being chained again (and PB is still chained to his back)?

Got a question why has'nt Phobos gone after Kratos for his fathers death (Ares) ?

Maybe because he understood that his father was betraying Olympus. It's the same reason why Hades never went after Kratos for killing Persephone.

Or that Phobos doesn't exist in this GoW-verse. After all, he was a relatively minor god in the myths. If he does exist, then Sin's explanation is the most probable one.

Who knows. See, the Gaia that Kratos talks to at the end of GoW II was never chained. The Gaia that helps Kratos in GoWII is possibly chained, but given that she's the 'Earth', I don't think Zeus would chain her, or could chain her.

As for Cronos, it depends. See, the war ended with most, if not all the Titans chained or in captivity. However, Kratos' actions brought the Titans from the War to his time, before they could be chained.

a) Cronos was never chained, as he was never captured.
b) Cronos is chained, but the past version is free and in Kratos' time right now. So basically, there are TWO Cronos' right now. Scary huh?Two of every Titan. Though that might not be possible.
c) Kratos never rescued Cronos, so he's still chained.

This whole time-manipulation thing is choc full of plot-holes. Add time-travel to anything, and you introduce plot-holes.

Yes, but there were Harpies that were able to chain her down. And you also have to remember that Hephaetatus(?) created a weapon to chain the titans (the weakest of all the gods), so there is no telling WHEN they were chained. And you also have to remember that she appeared as Kratos' wife as well. Here are some more things that are stupid...

If can Gaia can heal, hen why would she wait until Kratos get killed to heal him?

Is it weird that a titan can beat a god up to the point where a mortal can kill them?

How was Kratos able to fully give up his powers in CoO (thus making himself complete human), but yet, Zeus was only able to take half?

If Zeus banished the titans to Tartarus, how could he easily be put to sleep by one god?

How is it that Helio head still alive, but if he gets impaled, he dies?

Why would Athena wait until the worst moment to tell that Zeus is Kratos' father?

If Gaia knew that Kratos would "shake the very pillars of Olympus" how couldn't she know that Zeus would punish all of the titans?

if Zeus didn't like the fact that Kratos was being worshipped higher than him, then how come he didn't have a problem with it in God of War? Ares was clearly being worshipped higher than him (and Zeus clearly killed innocents - being worshipped higher or not).

Why does Kratos specially have Ares' soul (unless it was non-canon)?

How could the gravedigger know that Kratos would be killed, but yet, Zeus didn't know that the SoF were dead.

If Zeus came to the SoF to change the fate of Olympus, why would he kill Kratos in the first place (it's a mural in GoWII)?

And, if they knew this, why would they allow Ares to kill Kratos?

Oh yeah, in God of War to came to other gods to defeat Ares, but yet, you still needed PB when you already had the power of the gods.

Anyone happen to know who the hell that creepy old man was?

I heard you kill him in God of War III, and if it's true, it's not Zeus. But it's probably Hermes. Then again, he said that Athena wasn't the only god watching over him. And the only person who that could be is Zeus. Wouldn't it be funny if that was Gaia?

The thing I'm wondering is maybe in GOW3 you eventually have to fight Gaia. I mean, Athena and Lakhesis were going on about "Gaia's lies" when talking to Kratos. I'm guessing that Gaia was using Kratos for his indomitable will and fury. Gaia even made Kratos flashback to seeing his dead wife (just before the Kraken fight) and she fueled is rage even more with a Rage of the Titans upgrade only because Kratos was at his wit's end and ready to give up.

I think that Kratos will have to fight not only Zeus, but Gaia, as well.

It says that Gaia will be shaking the temple that you and Zeus fight on. So it's very possible.

That man was Zeus.

Implied to be, has not been confirmed to my knowledge.

I always thought it was Apollo in disguise. I assumed since he was mentioned in the instruction manual and he wasn't seen in the game yet, I assumed it might've been him.

Because it would be a waste since Kratos would get slaughtered. Notice Gaia told Kratos that he had to go to Sisters of Fate?

I don't think Helios is dead. Every god that was killed always exploded. Besides the decapitated head can still scream.

How was Kratos able to fully give up his powers in CoO (thus making himself complete human), but yet, Zeus was only able to take half?

Maybe the powers granted could be taken back in case there was abuse of power. Just my thought.

If Zeus banished the titans to Tartarus, how could he easily be put to sleep by one god?

He used the Blade of Olympus to do so. Besides, Morpheus must've been pretty smart. He must've spent centuries in Olympus and he is a god after all.

How is it that Helio head still alive, but if he gets impaled, he dies?

Huh?

Plot hole.

Wasn't it the same way in Greek mythology? I sure don't remember Zeus not like being worshiped higher in the game.

Why does Kratos specially have Ares' soul (unless it was non-canon)?

It has to be non-canon because I've never heard of this.

How could the gravedigger know that Kratos would be killed, but yet, Zeus didn't know that the SoF were dead.

Kratos came from the future in an instant and screwed stuff up. That's probably why Zeus didn't know.

If Zeus came to the SoF to change the fate of Olympus, why would he kill Kratos in the first place (it's a mural in GoWII)?

Because that murder was part of that fate change. With Kratos dead, no one would rule over him. But of course with time manipulation, that can change.

And, if they knew this, why would they allow Ares to kill Kratos?

Don't understand this.

Oh yeah, in God of War to came to other gods to defeat Ares, but yet, you still needed PB when you already had the power of the gods.

He only had some a fraction of those powers. They would assist him in the battle. You could use Pandora's Box and still fail. Without it, there's no stoppiing a god. Why did you think Kratos surrendered to Zeus?

I think I'll take it upon myself to lighten up the mood of this topic for a moment.

Here's a screen cap I found while surfing the web:

I can honestly say that I was genuinely terrified by that look on his face. He could've just bit Helios' head right off with that mouth.

Kratos' hands look like the hands of a washed-up old bum from the streets.
