STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Cold War

Wraith does not come close the troops, but keeps them in sight.

"Do we ice 'em?" Wraith asks Ker'Raos and Dak via comlink, hidden behind a snowbank.

"Do you think you can kill them without even one of them getting away or alerting an entire army?" Dak answers quietly. "One mistake and we're rather screwed."

Incidentally, how many soldiers are in each detachment?

"Hmm, no," Wraith says. "Don't want to risk it. Besides, might as well follow them in, find out where all the action is going to take place."

"I concur," Ker'Raos says. "We could probably take them out, but better do that once we know where to go."

There are ten soldiers per detachment. Seems like they've been tasked to secure potential exits from the mines, as the miners would know them best and hope that the Royal Army doesn't think of them.

Keeping his lightsaber on hand, Wraith creeps out from behind the snow bank, moving closer to keep an eye on the Arnians. Once they enter the mines, Wraith will follow as quietly as he can without getting their attention.

In the event that he is discovered, he intends to make short work of them...

If the mine shaft is sufficiently deep, Dak will wait until the soldiers are partway down the shaft and then cut their lines, dropping them to their deaths. 😄

Needless to say, Wraith is discovered as he comes closer. It must have been a fluke that you were not noticed before, a tall human figure wearing a bulky hazard suit. The Arnians turn on you, blaster rifles drawn...

-

The soldiers examine the area around the shaft for a moment before securing their lines on an overhanging crane that used to support the lift wires. Satisfied with their handywork, they rappel down into the darkness of the pit.

At which point you approach the shaft unnoticed, Dak. Care to describe how you're cutting them?

If they're like rope, one of my knives should make quick, silent work of them.

If they're metal cable, a saber will most certainly make quick work of them.

The sturdiest of metals is no match for your lightsaber. Consider them severed. The soldiers plummet the remainder of their way down the shaft, crashing down on support beams or skewering themselves on sharp crystallized protrusions.

Dak walks casually over to the shaft and looks down it a moment, admiring his handiwork.

...

Wait... he can still get down himself, right? ermm

Acting quickly, Wraith ignites his lightsaber and flings it towards the Arnians, intending to cut down three of them in his first strike.

If you were an ordinary being, you would be delightfully stuck. As it is, you're far from ordinary.

There seem to be a series of support beams criss-crossing the old shaft. You're sure they weren't supposed to be there when the shaft was in working order, but for whatever reason, they're there now. You could easily hop down them.

Or you could find something to rappel down with.

-

Vwum! The lightsaber twirls out of your hand and cuts down two of the Arnians before they have a chance to raise their blasters. The third throws himself prone just before your lightsaber gets to him.

The Arnians are going to fire before you can retrieve your lightsaber.

Let's go with hopping down the support beams.

Easily done. Using the Force to guide your jumps, you rather swiftly descend along the support beams. A few crack and creak when you press down on them, but you've moved on before they have a chance to break.

The bottom of the shaft is entirely frozen. You've descended into the icy crust of Arnia's surface. It is dark but for the blue glowrods that the troopers had brought with them.

One of the troopers has survived the fall, and he rolls over onto his back when you approach. He clutches at his right arm with his left.

"Please," he begs. "Help us."

Guiding back his lightsaber with one hand, Wraith extends the other to pluck the blaster rifles from three of the Arnian troopers with a Reaction Push. He dodges one of the incoming blasts, then throws himself behind a snowbank for cover.

Dak crouches down in front of the soldier. "Let me see your arm..."

"Do you know where the rebels are holed up?" he asked as he looks at it.

Nice and broken, Dak. Without proper treatment, it will... well, under your care it probably won't heal ever.

"The main pit," the trooper says.

-

The Reaction Push goes off with rolls of 5, 8, and 10...

The three Arnian troopers are surprised when their rifles are snapped out of their hands, leaving them unable to attack. They scramble after their rifles.

The dodge is almost a waste, Wraith, as the troopers frantically fire off bursts. No hits as the lasers slice through the snowbanks around you.

Your lightsaber slaps back into your hand.

Dak's hand twitches, desperate to release a saber, but he controls himself. "Do you have a map? I don't want to get lost in these tunnels..."

Wraith charges down the Arnian troops, employing the use of Blur to speed his charge with the Force. He Defends against their incoming blasts, deflecting their shots harmlessly into the icy ground.

"No need. There are signs to follow. Hey, who are you, anyway? Aren't you going to help me with this?"

-

You charge towards eight shooters, easily batting the shots away as you charge. But one shot, a 20, bursts near your foot and trips you up as you charge. 6 damage dealt!

One frame to go, but your move.
